Excellent Retreat--Better than Description

The description and photographs of Mountain Meadow Lodge are accurate, but understate the wonders of this location. The mountain view from the front porch is lovely, and the trail into the woods from the back porch offers a fine daily walk. We wanted and expected isolation, but did not realize how "convenient" our secluded place would be. We assumed we would have a long drive for groceries (we stayed a month), but could reach the large new store in Mars Hill in just a few minutes and the Saturday farmers' market was superb (amazing
goat cheese, pesto, blueberries). We went into Asheville two or three times a week -- the owners' 25 minute estimate is generous-- we were often in a restaurant in less time than that. The location also offers very easy access to the BRP and many, many hikes of varying degrees of difficulty.
The house is set up for comfortable and efficient living. The kitchen is very-well equipped and it is incredibly handy to have the washer-dryer
right there on the first floor.
We have already recommended this place to several friends!
