Charter Fishing:
Grand Haven is recognized as one of the most chartered fishing ports on Lake Michigan.
The types of Fish most commonly caught are Chinook Salmon, Coho Salmon, Steelhead Trout, Brown Trout, Lake Trout, Yellow Perch, Walleye, Largemouth Bass and Blue Gill are the primary catches in Lake Michigan and the inland waters.

You can spend the day fishing on the pier or troll Lake Michigan or the inland waterways for a number of species of fish. There are several public fishing sites, boat launches and marinas in the Grand Haven Area to fit your needs.
Boating and Beaches:
Recreational boating and beach visits make Grand Haven and Spring Lake two of the most popular destinations along Lake Michigan.
Miles of soft golden sand, rolling dunes and towering trees make the Grand Haven area one of the most prestigious waterfront communities located on Lake Michigan. As a boater, you can head inland through the channel and enjoy Spring Lake; a boater’s paradise! Enjoy quaint bayous, scenic views of waterfront living and a tranquil setting that makes you forget about that “to-do list” at home.
Biking:
There are over 100 miles of bike paths throughout Northwest Ottawa County. Popular paths and trails run along the Lake Michigan shoreline on Lakeshore Drive between Grand Haven and Holland or crossing the Grand River connecting Spring Lake, Grand Haven and Ferrysburg.
Grand Haven's spectacular waterfront can be accessed from the south via Lake Avenue or Grand Avenue through Duncan Park. However cyclists should be aware that pedestrian traffic can be heavy along the waterfront, especially in the summer. A recently constructed path along us-31 bascule bridge also allows bicyclers to travel safely over the Grand River between Grand Haven, Ferrysburg, and Spring Lake.
Popular bicycle routes on the north side of the river include the Lakeside Trail, a 15-mile path around Spring Lake, and North Shore Road with widened shoulders on both sides of the road that lead to North Beach Park on Lake Michigan.
