Beautiful Week

My husband and I "vacationed" with teenaged girls, my 17 year old daughter and four friends. We didn't think we would be able to relax much but we were wrong. First, the set up of the cabin enabled us to have our space and privacy while they had their own space also. We stayed in one of the two bedrooms downstairs and the girls all stayed in the two bedrooms upstairs. We had our own bathroom downstairs and they had their own upstairs.
We had an active week of running, cycling, hiking, and kayaking! The cabin is centrally located for beautiful runs. From the cabin, we had easy access to a bike/running trail that goes all the way to Tahoe City and beyond. We found the first day of running difficult due to altitude and need for good hydration. From the cabin, we also headed south on the bike trail and ran through Sugar Pine Point and around the Ehrman mansion. It was beautiful. Another day we went kayaking in Sand Harbor and started well before the crowds arrived to start a beautiful peaceful day on the water. Looking for a more rigorous adventure, we drove to Squaw Valley Ski Resort and climbed to the top of Squaw on the Shirley Cavern Trail. Once we found the trail, it took us 1.5 hours of rigorous hiking and climbing. We took the free tram down from the top and headed to Tahoe City for much needed food!
While we cooked dinner every night in the well appointed kitchen, we also went to South Lake Restaurant/Bar a few nights for a cocktail. It's just two miles down the road and it gave us the opportunity to meet different people every night!
We all had a wonderful trip and we look forward to next year!
