Day Trips:
Theme parks & other stuff! – Having to see white rhinos is one of the few valid reasons to leave our island. They're at Busch Gardens, Tampa (75 min) Here are a few other ideas: DeSoto Speedway (30 min) - Note: The cars are much faster than their web updates...you better call for info! Dog lovers can visit the Sarasota Kennel Club (30 min). Until we install slots by our washing machines the Seminole Hard Rock Casino (75 min) is the next best thing. Finally, there's nothing like a day in Orlando (2 1/2 hours) to make you miss the peace and quiet of Anna Maria Village.
Spas & Natural Healing:
For spa relaxing on the island visit Plumeria Day Spa and the A2 Aveda Concept Salon & Spa. For healthy foods stop by Fit to Eat next to Island Fitness or buy discounted vitamins and ingredients at Richard's Whole Foods. And Skinny's has vegan-burgers! For a full workout head to the Runaway Bay Fitness Center or the Island Fitness Center. In nearby Palmetto, you can spend a day at the new $6 million Evolve Day Spa.
Boating & Charter Fishing:
All types of boating & fishing are here for the asking. Try a sunset sails in the Gulf of Mexico or dolphin-watching on the Francis Crow & Mahina La or Spice Sailing Charters, shelling & snorkeling tours, dinner cruises, bird watching tours or historical trips to Ft. Dade on Egmont Key. For fishing charters contact Gulf Coast Fishing or Wolfmouth Charters. Wolfmouth also goes to Egmont Key. Other operators are Captain Kim's, Dolphin Dreams, Findango, Happy Hooker, Stray Dog & Cast Away Charters. Rent a boat or JetSki at Anna Maria Boat Club in Holmes Beach or Bradenton Beach Marina and be your own captain!
Golf:
Golf - There are plenty of golf courses within a short drive, the closest being about 25 minutes away. If you take your golf a little less seriously, there's a terrific miniature golf course nearby called Smuggler's Cove. Just like other Florida golf courses, they have real alligators so watch those water hazards!
