Tucked away in an exclusive leafy street on the doorstep of the Ranelagh Gardens and near the Bois de Boulogne, the classic white façade of this elegant Parisian home hides more than a few surprises. First, what a treasure to find a private heritage home dating from the 19th century in a city area where most people live in more recently built apartments. ‘Très design’ (as the French now say), the furnishings are a daring juxtaposition of traditional and contemporary. A rich velvet armchair and a Steinway ¼ piano reside next to a wall-size modern print. The marble topped dining table is ringed by minimalist pedestal chairs and stunning objets d’art of many eras catch the eye throughout. Opening from the marble-tiled entrance hall, the main salon/library extends out into a winter garden, merging seamlessly with lush plantings outside, which are oriented south. Mature trees shield the surrounding garden-terrace from neighbors, providing a charming and sheltered private space.
