Dream Accommodations–Beg of Dec 2011(8days)

Best vacation of my life, (lived in W. Europe & U.S.) I am very late in writing this review, but now my best friend and his new wife are interested in going to CR for their Honeymoon, so I thought I would write this review and have them read it. The details of the accommodations are exactly as described on the Homeaway Ad. Value was beyond belief, if you are not someone who feels “entitled” and needs to be waited on hand and foot, and can plan your own adventures, this is your dream spot. The view amazes you from the first light of day to the last glance before dozing off. The 2 BRs+center living room/3rd BR/Kitchen cottage is very well maintained. Cynthia & Patrice, the owners, have an architecturally spectacular main house (can also be rented), wonderfully maintained landscaping (private gardener), and maid service, thoroughly performed 2x a week. Cynthia & Patrice are warm and friendly, while still allowing their guests every opportunity to be private if that is your choice. They have a German Shepard mix named Tarzan who adopts the guests and keeps a watchful eye on them. He will accompany you to the beach if you ask him, and is always vigilant. There are two beaches to choose from, the main beach is Playa Ocotal, and it can be reached via hiking down the hillside on an overgrown path (5min), or by walking the road-longer trek, but no chance of disturbing any insects. The main beach has Father Rooster’s restaurant at one end, and rocks with tide pools at the other. Waves are small, and the sand is thick, not the white sugar sand found at many beaches in the States. The other beach is over the crest of the hill on the road that the house is located on and down the other side. It’s a bit tiring, but ever so worth it. It is a small sparkling black sand beach butting up to a manicured lawn, pool and a bar-restaurant belonging to a condo complex. This is a living postcard. For me, the best part was snorkeling. Like swimming in a giant aquarium. I saw brightly colored fish, coral and marine life, no predators. I recommend this for confidant swimmers; using fins and mask, as you must always be adjusting yourself to the tide. My wife stayed on the beach and read her Kindle (Electronic book). Tarzan kept a watchful eye. I did go out fishing one day on a small boat with an American Capt. I caught a 30Lb Jack Crevalle. I filleted it and the Gardener grilled it for us all.
We look forward to returning and hopefully staying longer next time.
Thank you C&P!
