The island of Texel offers something for everyone: around 30 km of fine sandy beach with very good swimming, behind large sand dunes and heathland. The rest of the island cover large forests, pastures and fields. Nature lovers will enjoy endless walks and varied cycling on a hervoragend equipped bicycle network.
Bird and plant lovers will appreciate the unique National Park Dunes of Texel with rare birds and plants, not to mention the eastern side of the island with the Wadden Sea coast. Culture and shopping in the villages of the island, too: restaurants, bars, markets, cinemas, museums, indoor pool and countless shops give rise on holiday boredom.
The great family beach Paal 17 is only 1.8 km away. There is a large free car park next to two restaurants, a beach with lifeguards and watch a surf, kite sailing and beach Katermaran rental and school. The beach can be used at any tide to swim. There are knee-deep at low tide, tidal creeks, which are for small children to splash ideal. Shortly before Paal 17 is Ecomare Nature Museum with a large seal pool and aquarium.
From the Ruhr area from the island of Texel is after about three hours in sight. The last part of the journey is managed with the big car ferry (20 min.) From Den Helder. The ferry runs every half hour in summer, otherwise hourly.
