**The Satallite map on HomeAway is not accurate. The actual location of Princesa is exactly in Puerto Aventuras by the coast just to the left of the Catalonia if your facing the sea.
What an absolutely perfect vacation. The house is so spacious and beautiful. All the bedrooms were large with an ocean view from the balcony. The bedrooms on the west wing were ensuite bathrooms. Princesa overlooks the lagoon and ocean. We were able to kayak everyday from the house. Everything down to the smallest detail was amazing.
And the staff was so friendly and helpful. Our chef was from the Omni hotel and the Mexican dishes he prepared were so good we did not dine anywhere else. Every night at dinner time we were all at the table smiling and laughing with the staff.
It was exactly what we were hoping to find.
We stayed at princessa mar 15-28/2016 it is a huge place right on the lagoon and about a two minute walk to the beach in front of the Catalonia, great ocean views from the bedrooms nice pool and outside area.It comes with a few kayaks for paddling in the lagoon,we booked directly with the owner LEo who lives in California. There are a few issues with the house but nothing that would ruin your holiday, some people that put bad reviews on sites I think are a little to picky, even at the high end resorts there is issues.Things you will notice is the dishwasher doesn't work or some lights don't work, the maid who comes in daily does the dishes so dishwasher not a issue. There is also a private chef who will cook your meals for you his name is abner and he has a restaurant in punt maya.he makes authentic Mayan dishes and they are very good.WE rented golf carts for our stay and they were great as most people in pa get around in golf carts, lots of restaurants and bars to go out and visit.the bars all close at 11 pm but not a big deal as we just return to the house for a late night swim and sit outside by the pool.we are planning our trip back to there right now and can't wait to get back there.AS for booking and dealing with issues Leo was only a phone call away and Samuel the maintenance man and pool guy was there every morning,he is a Mayan and his English is minimal but we stil managed to communicate no problem even learned some Spanish from him.I would recommend this place but don't go there expecting to be royalty as it is a lot cheaper than a lot of pa rentals, though whole time we were there we were rarely in the house as we did everything outside by the pool.
We stayed at princessa for two wreaks in mar 2015 there were seven of us and it was a great stay. The house is large with spacious bedrooms and great ocean views,it is located right on the lagoon and only a 2 minute walk to the Catalonia beach.THere are kayaks for you to use to paddle the lagoon or out to the beach ,the lagoon has lots of fish for snorkelling and tubing.the house comes with a chef and maid to cook your meals and clean rooms as well as a pool and grounds keeper. The chefs name is abner and he also owns a restaraunt in punta maya,he serves authentic Mexican cuisine or western as well but the food is superb,Samuel looks after the pool and is a local Mayan with limited English but a lot of fun when he showed up,we learned a lot of Spanish from him.The house is in puerto aventuras and is a great location,it is a gated community with several bars and restaurants ,prices are very reasonable and awesome atmosphere.we also rented golf carts and travelled everywhere on them.Princessa is a large house8000 sq ft and has a few issues but nothing that Will ruin you're holiday.we are already planning our stay there for March 2016
the place is sopacious and the hired help, cook, his helper are all wonderful. the kitchen needs major upkeep, dishwasher does not work, range has only one burner. hats off to the cook george, he managed to cook us wonderful meals , and wash the dishes. the pool was wonderful, but the showers did not work in some of the bathrooms. the maintenance person responded immediately and did fix some of it. overall because of the pool, the cook and his help the stay was comfortable.
We rented this home for Spring break with our two small children. Although the pictures make this place seem like a dream, I can tell you that it needs a lot of much needed maintenance that is not being done. It does come with a staff, but the only one that is worth while is George the cook. The maid has no clue nor any interest in how do her job. The house care taker is keeping the money he is being given to take care of the house and pocketing it it instead of maintaining it. There is no actual TV in the bed rooms as the owners do not feel like paying the extra money to provide the service. The hot tub works erratically and was out much of our trip. The kitchen is very dingy and the microwave doesn't work. Also... it is infested with centipedes and mold. The dishes even smell bad because the maid uses old dirty rags to clean them. My wife and I had to rewash everything we used. The real view out of the back of the house is an abandoned ruin of a hotel that was left there to wrought since 2005. Is there a beach view... um sure sort of. The beach is not sandy at all, in fact it is a rock beach... the sandy pictures you see are just of the lagoon. I would not recommend this house to anyone looking for a 4 or 5 star beach vacation. At one point I am sure that this place was nice but those days are long gone. I would recommend finding a home in the neighboring town of Akumal instead. That is where the real beach is! Puerto Aventuras is a marina village, not a beach village.
Puerto Aventuras is beautiful gated community. Our family felt very safe and secure. The house is huge and easily accommodated the 6 adults and 4 kids which were in our group. The chef/cook made several wonderful authentic Mexican meals which were outstanding. The housekeeper kept the place tidy and clean. She also did a great job of supplying us with plenty of beach towels. We spent many hours hanging out by the beautiful pool area. The kids loved the hot tub and slide. There ares several kayaks available which are free to use. The house is adjacent to a calm lagoon and the ocean is only a short paddle from the house. There is a nice beach area across the street and there is good snorkeling in the nearby bay/cove area. There is a pool table in the house which was popular in the evenings.
We rented a Van for our group and we took several day trips. Puerto Aventuras has an ideal location on the Mayan Riviera. The beach at Akumal is only a 10-15 min drive and very beautiful The snorkeling there is excellent. It is a great place to see the sea turtles graze on the sea grass in the calm protected bay area. We also did a day trip to see the Mayan ruins in Coba which is only about an hour drive. There are many interesting ruins sites and huge pyramid which you can climb up if you feel adventurous. Tulum has additional ruin sites and beautiful beach and is about 30 minutes from the house. Playa Del Carmen is only 10-15 minute drive and there are many shops and restuarants to choose from. We spent a couple of evenings dining and hanging out on 5th avenue. We played a round of golf at Riviera Maya Golf Club which was a beautiful course and only 15 minutes away. There is a 9 hole course within Puerto Aventuras but we did not play it.
There are few minor issues which could be improved. The water pressure in the showers is adequate but less than we are used to. The wi-fi/internet did not work. Subsequently, the Vonage phone wasn't working. This was not a big deal for our group but it could be if you were expecting it for work etc...The dishwasher was not working. The housekeeper did majority of the dishes so it wasn't an issue for us but it could be if you were planning to cook your own meals. I am not sure why you would.. when you have a great cook/chef available. Nonetheless, it could be fixed. Some of the outdoor lights by the pool/Patio area were not working. All in all the trip was awesome. I wish I were still there.
A short distance away are Chichen-Itza (Wonder of the World), Talum with Mayan ruins by the sea and its hidden celebrity beaches (Paraiso Beach), Island of Cozumel, Akumal and Xel-Ha one of the largest natural lagoons, attract travelers world wide are also nearby. Some of the best attractions are only minutes away: Playa Del Carmen, Xaret, Explor.
15 minutes away are Sam Club, Wall Mart and other large shopping stores. A must see is the beautiful Euro Style shopping and restaurants at 5th Ave Playa Del Carmen during the evening hours. This is a haven for Europeans and South Americans as are the hidden beaches along the coast south of Talum similiar to the Jungle Ride in Disneyland.
