Island Pond, Vermont is the gateway to the Upper Kingdom with miles of mountain wilderness, lakes and streams. This 4 seasons area is home to the Nulhegan Basin, Sylvio O. Conte National Refuge, and several Vermont State Natural and Wildlife Management Areas. The primary attraction of this general area is its wilderness: mountains with tree-covered slopes, fast running rivers and streams and clear lakes. The land northeast and southeast of Island Pond is especially suited to the fisherman, the hunter, or the outdoor lover and is virtually without roads or towns. Logging roads into the deeper reaches of this area are numerous and offer interesting side trips.

We had a wonderful time staying at the chalet. The views are amazing, and the chalet itself is tastefully furnished and immaculate. The town of Island Pond is quaint and picturesque. Craig, the owner of the chalet, was very nice and helpful, and we enjoyed meeting him. I highly recommend staying here - the chalet itself is even more delightful than the posted pictures, with the lake just a few yards away, and very quiet at least during our autumn stay.
