Ex-Snorkel Virgin
My boyfriend and I stayed here and had a blast! We're avid kayakers and hikers but until our first trip to St John, we were snorkel virgins...
This cool "off-the-grid" place is way up a dirt/rocky road and a bit of wild-ride but if you've got 4wheel drive and a sense of adventure you'll definitely dig it (even though it borders the National Park, it's just 10 min to the store/bar). The stunning view (even from the bed) is of Hurricane Hole and it's definitely God's Country: awesome beauty and serenity. We had a couple of donkeys drop by (and lots of geckos) to say Hi which was fun. When we weren't snorkeling (saw a gorgeous huge turtle first time out!); our favorite places were Hawksnest Beach for a picnic; Skinny Leg's for music & drinkie-poos; Ram's Head for a hike (bring a camera & ALOT of water); Cinnamon Bay for swimming and Aqua Bistro for Dinner. Groceries are rather expensive on St John and we ended up eating out alot more than we had expected. Only other complaint is woulda, coulda, shoulda stayed 2 weeks! Spent most of our time out and about exploring the island, but the "Island-Time" we did spend at Honeymoon Hikers Cottage (clean, cozy and exotic btw) and St John was pure magic...
