Geographically: Laughing Bird Apartments are situated on the beach in Governors Harbour, across from Laughing Bird Cay. All apartments face the sea and a sand shelling beach. The apartments are located in their own acre of beautiful tropical gardens, in an atmosphere of quiet serenity.
Our well outfitted apartments are fully air-conditioned, and are equipped with a kitchen, linens, and crockery. All utilities are included in the rental rates. Maid service and an extra bedroom are offered at a small additional charge.
Local History: The town of Governor's Harbour is centrally located on the 105 mile-long island of Eleuthera. It was settled in the 17th century by the Company of Eleutheran Adventurers, who came to the Bahamas from England to found the first democratic government in the Western hemisphere. The town today is picturesque -- perfectly nestled in a natural harbour on the Caribbean coastline of the Island. Less than half a mile across the island is the Atlantic coastline, crested with long stretches of shallow coral reefs and world-famous powdery pink sand beaches. Nearby necessities: Within a five-minute walk of the apartments are supermarkets, clothing and gift shops, automobile and bicycle rentals, banks, a post office, a medical clinic, a dentist, churches, restaurants, nightclubs, bars, and liquor stores.
