NOT AT ALL WHAT IS DESCRIBED - VERY DIRTY - ROACHES

Upon arrival inside the home, we were shocked at the condition. The home was far from clean. The entry way tile was filthy. The carpet was stained all over. The furniture was old and stained. The couch was musty and had two slits in it. The slip covers were not clean either. The kitchen was not clean and when we opened the refridgerator there were two dead roaches. Then in the freezer there was a dead roach. By the door leading out to the garage there was a dead roach. The garbage can was full to the top with garbage god only knows how old it was. We proceeded to check the master bedroom which wasnt horrible. There was a big stain in the carpet, but then we saw that the headboard was broken. We checked the master bathroom which had two live baby roaches in it. And the surfaces looked to have leftovers (hair, etc...) from a previous renter. I had a business meeting across town so my husband and daughter stayed at the home and he tried to clean up some things to make it livable. He then found that the remote for the tv didnt have batteries. There was no dish soap for the kitchen. (thank god we brought cleaning supplies as a just in case) Through our stay which we cut short and found other accomodations which obviously cost us more. We had bought laundry detergent and washed the extra sheets to cover the couches to sit on them and wash the sheets so we felt they were clean. Our 16 month old was very limited to play as it just wasnt clean. We continuously had to kill baby roaches. It was gross. The only reason we stayed like we did as I had a lot of business up there and the moment we rolled into our personal vacation time we left. Which wasnt easy with a baby and two dogs. My dogs were limited to where we would let them go as they are very clean dogs. We never wear shoes in the house and this house we felt the need to always keep them on. The care taker Andrew is very nice, but there really isnt anything he can do to make this home comortable. It needs new carpet, furniture, and a good scrubbing. Stains on the walls too. Yuck. The only nice thing about this home is the pool. Which we tried to enjoy while we were there. Whats disturbing is the owner who all contact was with wouldnt/hasnt returned any emails to us with regard to the issues. We only heard from the care taker. I am very dissapointed as I was looking forward to a nice time in thishome. Hopefully the owner takes this into consideration and makes some changes.
Owner's Response: We, the owners and our caretaker, did our utmost to solve the problems the guests had during their stay. On the arrival day we offered an extra cleaning and a visit of the pest control company to the guests. We repeated our offer the next day. For several reasons they did not want the extra cleaning and the visit of the pest control company.
We changed the way the cleaning company and pest control company work at our villa. When there is a gap between two arrival days there will be an extra cleaning and pest control check before the arrival of the next guest. When they notice anything out of the ordinary they must mention that to the caretaker. We know for sure that by working this way we will never have the same situation the guests encountered during their stay.
