My wife and I were originally from California we fell in love with south Florida and made it our home for years. We purchased the Young Mansion and did a extensive five year renovation to return the house to its former glory. At the time we had two children but as our family grew (now six) we decided to move back to California to be closer to family. We put off the decision for years because it was hard leaving this beautiful home. Living in the Young Mansion was a one of a kind experience, you felt like you were living in a Andalusian or Tuscan villa.
The Owner purchased this estate in 2002
This house has it all. It is close to the beach and it is a Spanish/Moorish architectural masterpiece. We fell in love with it the first time we saw it. The place is so sophisticated it really gives you the experience of living in another era.
Huge pool, formal gardens, hardwood floors and cuban tile throughout the house. House was built with a unique craftsmanship that would be incredibly difficult to duplicate today. Insurance companies valued the replacement cost to reproduce a house of this magnitude to be valued at 5 million dollars because of the home's intricate details. The place is a destination unto itself and staying here is a total experience.
We recently rented out the Young Mansion for a reunion of sorts. We had six couples and two solo friends for a total of 14 and it would have been possible to not even run into each other the property was so sprawling. We were all awestruck from the moment we arrived. The pictures do not do the property justice. It was essentially like having you own private resort. The pool, cabana and surrounding grounds were immaculate and very private. The décor inside the house makes for a very cozy and intimate vibe as well. I would highly recommend this to any group of friends or a family that is looking for a place that keeps everybody in one place.
We had a large group of friends that all stayed at Young Mansion together for two weeks and we had a wonderful time! The house is beautiful albeit old which we loved. We cooked group meals in the large kitchen, ate in the large dining room or by the pool and lounged in the cabana all day. The pool table was a hit with everyone. We were there for the Superbowl and the living room and TV was large enough to accommodate our large group. Even the dog had fun chasing the lizards around the pool. Michael (the caretaker) was nearby and available whenever we ran across a problem or question (which is bound to happen with an old estate this large). Richard was very responsive by email or phone whenever we had a question and sent us a very exhaustive list of guidelines/suggestions to help us prior to checking in. The beds were very comfortable and water pressure/temp was great (which can be tricky in an old house) - no problems there! The only thing I can even think of to suggest would be a commercial coffee maker - we were a large group of coffee drinkers and made many pots a day with the 12 cup Mr. Coffee maker - but other than that we had a lovely time in a grand old house with many nooks and crannies to explore! We are already planning our trip back next year. Thanks again to Richard Vest and Michael Neal for a wonderful time!
words don't describe this house we had a great time and the manager was a pleasure to deal with. We would recommend this house to anyone
We recently enjoyed a weekend at this beautiful historic estate. We also were able to get support from Michael, the property manager who was quite friendly and helpful. We enjoyed cooking our own meals at the chef kitchen, the pool, and the outdoor shower. We also enjoyed a couple of mangoes that had fallen near the pool. They were VERY sweet!
We stayed with another family over spring break (4 adults, 4 teenagers, 1 child) and we could have had another family as well! These are very spacious accommodations with plenty of entertainment at the house and nearby. We walked downtown for dinners, walked to the beach, rented bikes and took advantage of our own private pool on many occasions. Evenings were spent sitting around the pool telling stories and playing games. Groceries are just up the road and the kitchen is very well stocked. This is a lovely property in a charming beach town.
For the second time in 6 months we had the special experience of staying at the Young House. Even though we are local we love this place. It has everything you would want in a vacation rental. Not only is it spacious but it has all the history and the feel of a romantic Villa in a far away land. I have to say as much as I love the home, the gardens and pool area are my favorite places. You can just sit and relax in not only a beautiful setting but a peaceful place just a few blocks from my Favorite Beach in all the world. You can literally never leave this house for a week and have an incredible vacation. I live locally and I still love this place and staying here. Great place for family reunions and business retreats. This stay included special intimate Dinners for some of our faithful church members. They loved the place and it made a great place to spend time with some very special people. I highly recommend this home for any special vacation or occasion. Please note it is almost a 100 years old, if you are expecting a brand new home you might be disappointed. But if you value History, amazing architecture and all the luxuries of today together then you will love the most celebrated house in Hollywood. I love the Billiards room and the original wood floors, even the little creaks when you walk. This place weds yesterday with today. I highly recommend it and hope to stay here again. The owner is great to work with and his Management team led by Elizabeth will do anything they can to make your stay memorable. Anything we needed they did their best to accommodate.
