THE RAVEN'S ROOST: EXPANSIVE VIEWS OF TOMALES BAY AND HILLS

Inverness House Rental Photos and Description

5 bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms, sleeps 5-12

This is a wonderful house for extended-family gatherings, company retreats or groups of friends in a very peaceful setting. There is ample common space - the dining room seats twelve - and the four bedrooms (five including the cottage) are each large and well seperated from each other. The perfect setting for two to five couples. Add the futon and sofa sleeper to accomodate a few extra.

Privacy and tranquility, all withing walking distance to Point Reyes National Seashore trails. The pupping elephant seals are a short drive away at Chimmey Rock from December through March.

Dramatic views from all rooms. Kitchen includes granite counters, restaurant-grade oven with hood. Upstairs/downstairs decks and patio offer plenty of outdoor space. Toddlers can ride trikes in the driveway.

Relax in the hot tub after a day on the trail or at the beach.

Suitability:
  • non smoking only
  • wheelchair accessible
  • suitable for elderly or infirm
  • children welcome
  • pets not allowed

Guestbook comments from the owner

Oh my Gosh. I left there so euphoric that I just woke up this very moment to realize that I never thanked you!!!!!

It was wonderful. Truly an inspirational place. It was much warmer in feel that the photos could express. We danced, we drummed, we hot tubbed, we slept under the stars, we cooked and cleaned and cooked again. We ate dinner on the deck with warm november breezes! We watched the full moon rise and set. We did yoga and meditation as the sun rose. We worked very, very hard at what we came to do and accomplished so much!

I hope we can return.

  • 5 of 5
amazing views, incredible hiking trails a short walk from the house, house provides room for sharing meals together, cooking together, reading together, dancing together...secluded enough to allow for privacy but a relatively short drive from oakland/SF. House creates a sense of relaxation and peace- would recommend to all!!!

Great Rustic Getaway, Hiking Heaven

  • 5 of 5
This house is all about location, with a spectacular view, an elevation that puts it above the marine layer, and Pt. Reyes hiking trails 50 yards away. We were there for the Perseid meteor shower and and last minute getaway with friends before all our kids started school. It was perfect. The house itself was comfortable and rustic, quite fitting for the location. The only downside was the hot tub had blown its electrical connection and was out of order. The owner was super responsive, however, and upon learning this, he had an electrician out there within the hour, so we were able to use it beginning on the 2nd night of our stay. Not a bad place to watch the shooting stars!

Glorious stay for 60th birthday gathering

  • 5 of 5
Ten of us stayed here recently, for 5 nights. The house exceeded our expectations. We all agreed that it is even prettier than its photos. The house is isolated at the top of a ridge with no nearby neighbors, which means it is very quiet and peaceful. The August weather was unseasonably warm and clear for our stay - perfect for sitting on the deck, sitting in the hot tub, sipping margaritas and just looking at the scenery, watching hawks circle, and in the early evening, bats. On our last afternoon there, the fog came in big time after all the hot days, and we watched it stream in on both sides of the house and pour downhill toward the bay - a very dramatic and beautiful sight!

We were 8 adults and two 12-year-olds, so we filled the house and the cottage. All the "old people" had their own rooms (4 BR + the cottage), a younger adult had the sofabed in a downstairs room adjoining the king bedroom, and the kids slept on the futon in the TV room just off the kitchen. (The kids were happy, but a grown-up might not like the fact that there are no window coverings or a door that closes.) While all the bedrooms were perfectly clean, comfortable and homey, some bedrooms are a lot more desirable than others, and we had to draw straws to settle who got the bedroom upstairs with the vaulted ceilings and the brass bed!

There was plenty of space for us to get away from each other when we needed to, but also plenty of room for being together. The common areas are fantastic, with a very large open living area with comfy seating. One night we plugged our iPad into the house's stereo deck and danced to oldies from the '60's. We cooked a lot. The dining room table was big enough for all, and the kitchen easily accommodated 4 or 5 people cooking at the same time. We found the kitchen fully equipped, including good knives, kitchen implements, pots and pans, and tableware. There are 2 coffeemakers, which we used, and the stove is fit for foodies. There are many other thoughtful comforts. We especially liked the binoculars and the nature guides and books about the area. As others have mentioned, you should bring extra camp chairs with you if you want to spend time on the decks as outdoor furniture is limited.

Activities we enjoyed: Saturday farmer's market in Pt. Reyes Stn., Cowgirl Creamery tour, Blue Water kayaking, oysters at the Marshall Store, Limantour Beach, shopping and eating in Pt. Reyes Station, and of course, the hot tub! A great time was had by all!

Very nice house with excellent view and a very quite surrounding

  • 5 of 5
we just got back from a 3 night stay here and the Raven's roost is just a fantastic place. Its a big enough house for 4-5 families (including the cottage) and lot of room for hte kids to play around. The huge dinning table allows for a nice sit down dinner too. Great view from the patio.

The fog comes around and leaves allowing you to experience different micro climates.

Well equipped home.

Highly recommend !

Wonderful Place for a Family Gathering

  • 5 of 5
We had Thanksgiving at the Raven's Roost. I was one of the best times our family has had. The hiking was terrific. The house was large enough for all of us to feel comfortable. We will definitely return!
