In addition to all the wonderful activities in Disneyworld and Universal, there is a quieter side to the Kissimmee area, only minutes from our home. Right in downtown Kissimmee is huge Lake Toho, a fisherman's dream. Annual fishing competitions are held here. There is an abundance of wildlife, some that can be seen from the shore, birds and otters, and others by airboat, alligators and eagles.
About an hour away, on Florida's east coast is the Kennedy Space Center and the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge. The refuge is a wonderful place to explore Florida's natural surroundings. More than 350 species of birds, 31 species of mammals, 117 species of fish, 68 species of reptiles and amphibians, call this refuge home. A car ride will take you to the manatee observation deck where you may spot a member of the largest population of Florida's east coast manatees. Be sure to stop at the Visitor Center for brochures and viewing guides.
Other Activities: miniature golf, airboat rides, outlet mall shopping at Orlando Premiere Outlet Mall, Orlando Prime Outlet Mall and Lake Buena Vista Outlet Mall
