Located at the foot of Mt. Tamalpais, a few minutes from the Golden Gate Bridge, this little retreat in Mill Valley is in a Historical Victorian home of a local artist. Oak Street Studio is one block from Old Mill Park and the public library. It's a sunny spot near downtown Mill Valley and surrounded by paths and hiking trails, although you may not want to leave the deck. Stroll through scenic Redwoods along the Cascade to the Falls or walk to the Plaza for a latte. This newly furnished studio apartment has a separate entrance down a private lane with parking space. Mill Valley's festivals, restaurants, theaters, parks and shops make it easy to relax and be entertained. We are within easy access of Muir Woods, Stinson Beach, Pt. Reyes National Seashore, Napa and Sonoma wine country. Buses and ferries available from several points or a 20 minute car drive to San Francisco.

A pleasant stay

Although small, very neat and comfortable. Bonus of large deck if weather is good.
Mill Valley is a delightful location. Great for restaurants, coffees and shopping in boutiques.
Would not recommend for tourists without a car as public transport is complicated and infrequent.
As photos show there are quite a few steps up to apartment so not suitable for frail but fine for fit seniors.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Sightseeing

Comfortable Hideaway

Seems like everything I needed was here. Even bathroom was stocked with sundry items one would need but often forget to take on a trip. Great claw foot bath tub with shiny brass fixtures. As a professional cook, I appreciated the kitchen was also stocked with spices, pots, pans & utensils and even coffee & some food. Only minor thing lacking was a BBQ on the deck or backyard , which was both private & luxurious for lounging and reading a book. Bed was super comfy with nice linens & pillows. This is a great place to stay and explore the North Bay or wine country. Terrific little corner coffee shop nearby that affords great people watching on the square. Well stocked local library 2 blocks away. I appreciated the reserved parking spot at the bottom of the stairs where I felt the kayak on my car would be secure in this quiet neighborhood. Would definitely return. One thing, try not to arrive late at night, as the hosts like to retire early.

We Keep Coming Back

My wife and I have been coming to California from England since 1988 to see friends and visit the Wine Country, San Francisco, Stinson Beach etc. About five years ago we discovered this old American town of Mill Valley which we loved at first sight.
We soon discovered Oak Street Studio on the web and have stayed there, sometimes twice a year, since then.
The town itself nestles in the redwood valleys of Mount Tamilpais from the summit of which (accessable by car or trail) one can enjoy a vista of San Francisco Bay, the ocean and the surrounding small towns.
Mill Valley has many shops, bars, restaurants and a cinema of high quality. There are many attractions such as an Arts Festival and a Film Festival.
Oak Street Studio is a beautifully appointed and compact apartment with a deck and within easy walking distance to the town centre.
We'll be back next year.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Adventure Seekers, Tourists without a Car, Sightseeing
