Our cottage is located on the beautiful north shore of Maui 12 miles from the Kahului Airport. We have a 2-acre estate which is totally fenced in and sits on top of the hill with ocean views and the islands of Maui and Molokai on the horizon.
The cottage has a full kitchen, high speed wireless internet, washer-dryer, phone, TV/VCR, and sleeps 2-5 people depending on your wishes. There is a large master bedroom with a king size bed and a very comfortable foam futon couch in the living room. The other bedroom with a full size bed is on the front porch and has a separate entrance. This cottage is very private, clean and comfortable.
The property abounds with coconut, bananas, avocados, limes, grapefruit, papayas, lychee, mangoes, coffee, guava, lemons, and passion fruit. There is an acre and a half of open lawn to relax on or for children to enjoy.
Haiku is the old pineapple center of Maui, and they are still grown in nearby fields. There are many shops and and excellent restaurants close by.
There is usually a breeze blowing and the temperature gets down to 70 at night and up to around 80 in the daytime.
Gregg and Danielle have lived in Hawaii since they were 18. Gregg is a retired jeweler/gem dealer who now is a glass bead artist. Danielle spends her time growing orchids and tropical flowers on their property. Gregg is a classic car guy and there is always something interesting in his garage. He has a 1964 Shelby 289 Cobra and a 1959 Porsche Carrera Speedster. Guests may want to ask him for a ride.
The Owner purchased this cottage in 1988
Haiku is all about open space and cool ocean breezes. We are both water people and need to be close to the beach. Maui's historical past is still alive in Haiku, a great alternative to the resort area on the other side of the island.
We enjoy avocados, coconuts, lemons, limes, oranges, papayas, jackfruit, coffee beans, and more. We also grow many tropical flowers and orchids. You will feel like it's your own home every time you come up the palm lined driveway. You can check out Gregg's Classic Car Collection at http://www.mauicarcollection.com
We chose the Dream cottage after meeting Gregg and Danielle the previous winter while looking for an Upcountry retreat.
The Cottage is clean and neat and has all that is needed for a week or more in Paradise; you will fall asleep with the sound of the breezes thru the mango trees and wake up with birdsong.
We enjoyed the location, numerous nearby beaches, waterfalls on the road to Hana, and just a short drive to the Action of Kihei and Wailea.
Highly recommended for an adventurous Couple!
My Mother and I thoroughly enjoyed our recent stay at Maui Dream Cottage, which turned-out to be a wonderful discovery when planning a return trip for us, as part of her 70th Birthday celebrations this year. Booking our reservation with Gregg was smooth and easy, with him kindly answering our questions and providing information about the area, which helped us better plan our trip (it was my first time driving on Maui). This sharing of local knowledge is always appreciated when traveling abroad, and made finding the cottage a breeze!
Everything was as described, with plenty of space and all the amenities needed for my Mom and I to enjoy an 'at home' feel despite being half-way around the World. We are not big on crowded hotels and bustling resorts, and found these accommodations to be very comfortable and relaxing. After spryly adventuring out and about Maui all day, it was nice to know we had a quaint getaway to return to, with it's tranquil and natural setting. We found this place to be ideally located on the North Shore, and made easy access for us to drive to all the places we wanted to go while on our trip. The cottage layout is warm and inviting, and was a great 'home base' for us, with no problems encountered during our stay - which is just how we like it on Maui: Stress-free! It was convenient to be able to cook some of our meals and do our laundry, as much as it was a true pleasure to tour Danielle's amazing garden and have Gregg show me his wicked car collection. It was an awesome experience!
Finding a great place to stay at while on Maui was one positive for our dream vacation, however it was even better to get to meet Gregg and Danielle with their most pleasant Hawaiian hospitality and generosity.
Mahalo! ...and Long may your big jibs draw!
PS: I'll be back to grab a ride next time! tc guys
My best friend and I have vacationed on Maui and the other islands several times, and recently have stayed at VRBO vacation rentals. We were very satisfied with this lovely spot. This location on the island, the property, the cottage, the fresh fruit and the hosts Gregg and Danielle are just wonderful. I am a horticulturalist and had a great time touring the lovely gardens with Danielle, and Gregg took me for a ride in one of his fabulous vintage sports cars. The cottage is clean, comfortable and private. We very highly recommend this VRBO. It is just wonderful.
My husband & I were very fortunate to find this secret gem.. our fourth time on Maui, but our first time in the northern part of the island. Our cottage was immaculate, the sheets were fresh & clean, there were plenty of towels, the kitchen had everything that we needed, pots & pans, knives, plates, wine glasses, & most importantly, & a nice surprise - a wine bottle opener☺️! We really enjoyed the privacy, the beautiful garden & the orchid garden! Gregg also gave us a tip on one of our most memorable hikes at Iao Valley! It was awesome! There is a river & waterfalls at this State Park where you could take off your shoes & wade in the water. It was just lovely. We are still on the island, yet, we are already planning our next trip, staying longer, in this beautiful cottage! Thank you, Gregg & Danielle, for your warm hospitality. God Bless, & until next time, soon we hope! ;)
The cottage was a delightful change of venue for our family of five - we usually do the all-inclusive resort vacation, which for a family of five, often means two separate hotel rooms and being "herded" around in tour groups to see the local sights. We felt like we had a little home to return to at our leisure, with peace, privacy and security and with the freedom of the rental vehicle we saw so much more of local life than we have on any previous tropical holiday. Our oldest two daughters stayed in the lower bedroom with its own entrance and a little bit of privacy for them, while the youngest took the futon. The master bedroom is huge and comfortable. It is just a quaint, comfortable, relaxing place to stay and Gregg and Danielle made us feel very welcome and were always willing to offer advice (and even some home baked bread and home grown fruit).
Thank you Danielle and Gregg for this wonderful place.
It's named Dream Cottage rightly, because it really is. We felt always like home, like staying with friends. The Cottage has got all you need and even more. Great garden with lots of fruits and flowers, clean and nice rooms with a great Hawaiian flair. to sad we had to leave after quite a while.
The kids loved the bedroom with the separate door but also the window inside to the kitchen. They said its a place to stay forever.
Mahalo a nui loa.
