Skiing: Bethel has been named 'the greatest ski town in the universe' by Ski Magazine. Downhill skiing is available at Sunday River Ski Resort and Mount Abram Family Resort. Right next to the house is Carter's Cross Country Ski Area which provides many miles of trails for both cross-country skiing and snowshoeing.
Kayaking and Canoeing: There is river access to the Androscoggin River right from the neighborhood. This stretch of the Androscoggin is part of the 60 mile canoe trail with many entrance and exit points along the way. Also, kayaking and canoeing can be enjoyed at many of the area lakes and ponds. Wildlife viewing is quite common on the river (moose, bald eagle, heron, etc.) and on the lakes (loon, bald eagle, etc.).
Bethel Village: Bethel is known as 'Maine's Most Beautiful Mountain Village.' The village offers many restaurants, coffee shops, markets, as well as uniques shops. Several walking pathways and guided tours are available in town.
