Chatham, the 'elbow' of Cape Cod, is surrounded by water on 3 sides. The town is home to many antique houses and a vibrant fishing industry. There are a variety of beaches to chose from: with some wave action on the east Atlantic side, few waves on the south Nantucket Sound side or no waves on the north Pleasant Bay side or Oyster Pond beach in town. In addition, Chatham has several freshwater ponds with beaches. The Cape Cod League baseball games are a fun way to see today's college athletes compete. Some former Cape Cod league players are now in the major leagues! Shopping in the downtown district is a delight and an adventure; no 'mall' shops here! Take a break at one of the excellent restaurants. Go hiking, bird watching, seal watching or take a boat to the outer beach and enjoy the surf of the Atlantic Ocean. For the kids, mini-golf is nearby as are trampolines, arcades and bowling. Don't miss the ice cream at Short & Sweet (The Old Schoolhouse) on Route 28. Enjoy Chatham!
