Waldsassen, a charming small town with cultural accents (church concerts in the largest basilica in northern Bavaria, Cistercian cloister with its famous library), is located in a well wooded, low mountain range landscape, surrounded by the Upper Palatinate Forest, Steinwald and Fichtel Mountains. Nearby is the border crossing into the West Bohemian spa triangle of Karlsbad-Marienbad-Franzensbad. Sibyllenbad (12 km) is a modern spa-centre with pools (inside and outside) and an oriental bath temple. Medical applications are possible (official springs).

The forest in 200 m distance, it is a paradise for hikers.

Ski: Ski-lifts in Großbüchelberg (5 km) and Schloppach, also with flood-light (3 km). Big ski runs with lifts are near Bischofsgrün, Warmensteinach und Fichtelberg (35 - 40 km) in Fichtelgebirge. Silberhütte (30 km): Cross-country ski centre. Steinwald (20 km): Nature park with peaks of about 1000 m.

Peaceful holiay in Bavaria

This is a lovely property in a quiet residential area, boasting its chic 1970s decor and fittings .The indigenous people are especially friendly. Exploring the beautiful neighbouring countryside is ideal by bicycle (available to rent locally) and cycling over the Czech border into the town of Cheb is very easy.
Waldsassen is very pleasant and the staff in the Tourist Information centre are exceedingly friendly and helpful.
The town is well positioned to take in beautiful Bavaria although may not suit families with young children as there are no theme parks etc. (thank goodness!), just God's own wonderful creation. We were able though to entertain an 18 year old son with mini golf and karting at nearby towns as well as a visit to the Nurburgring on the way across. Munich is in striking distance and BMW Welt is well worth a visit if you are a petrol head and the city is worth seeing if you are not. Overall, a wonderfully relaxing holiday for those of us who are not beach junkies!

Sehr schönes Ferienhaus mit allem, was man braucht

Wir wohnten 1 Woche(im Herbst) in diesem sehr gut ausgestatteten Ferienhaus mit 2 Erwachsenen und 3 Kindern(11Jahre, 2 Jahre, 4 Monate).
Wir fühlten uns von Anfang bis Ende sehr wohl. Am Tag unternahmen wir Ausflüge nach Karlsbad, Bayreuth und andere nahegelegene Städte. Den Kindern hat besonders die Sommerrodelbahn mit Minigolfanlage in Mitterteich(ca.15 Minuten mit dem Auto) gefallen. Der Greifvogelpark in Katharinenberg (ca.30 Minuten mit dem Auto) ist auch mal einen Ausflug wert.
Wir unternahmen auch sehr oft ausgedehnte Spaziergänge im nahegelegenen Wald(5 Minuten vom Haus zu Fuß entfernt), wo wir auch Pilze suchen konnten. Gleich in der Nähe(zu Fuß ca.15 Min) ist der sehr schöne Stadtkern von Waldsassen, wo es Einkaufsmöglichkeiten, Restaurants, eine Kirche, ein Krankenhaus...gibt.
Abends konnten wir den Tag in der Sauna, auf der Sonnenbank oder einfach nur vor dem Fernseher ausklingen lassen.
Also alles in allem war dieser Urlaub sehr erholsam, aber auch trotz Herbst für die Kinder nicht langweilig.

Wunderbares Haus mit Garten in herrlicher Umgebung

Wir haben uns so wohl gefühlt, dass wir den Aufenthalt noch verlängert haben. Unser Hund konnte im umzäunten Garten sich frei bewegen und unsere 18 Mon. alte Tochter hat der Urlaub auch gefallen. Besonderes hat uns der Strandkorb im Garten erfreut und die Terrasse mit großer Markise.

Schönes Ferienhaus zum Entspannen

Im Ferienhaus Sibylle fehlt es an nichts. Man kann sich wunderbar erholen, und die Sauna ist an kalten Abenden ein Genuss. Wir waren schon 15 mal im Haus Sibylle und kommen gerne immer wieder hier her. Es gibt seht gute Restaurants im Ort, und auch in der näheren Umgebung gibt es viel zu sehen. Erwähneswert ist auch das Sibyllenbad. In der herrlichen Landschaft kann man wunderbar wandern. Karlsbad, Marienbad und Franzensbad sind einen Besuch wert. Auch die wunderschöne Basilika und die Kappel sollte man sich unbdingt ansehen.

Ein ruhiges Ferienhaus zum Wohlfühlen

Ein sehr schönes, sauberes und gut gepflegtes Ferien-haus für Jung und Alt. Man fühlt sich sofort wie zuhause und kann es unbedenklich weiterempfehlen. Im Ort gibt es gute Restaurants. Die Basilika und die Klosterbibliothek muss man gesehen haben. Auch die Wandermöglich-keiten sind gut ausgeschildert und mit dem Auto kann man die herrliche Umgebung abfahren.
Wir waren bestimmt schon 9x im Ferienhaus Sibylle, zu fast jeder Jahreszeit. Wir fühlen uns immer wieder wohl, besonders im Winter, da wirkt ein Saunagang wunder!
