Wish to visit the Casino? Well, a great casino opened up about a year ago and it is approximately 1/2 hour distance from Casa de Campo, there are restaurants there as well, for your wins or losses.
Tours around the area are provided by the resort, of course you need to make your own arrangements. The City of Santo Domingo, offers tourists a lot of history as the First Cathedral of the New World was built here as well as the first University. You can also visit Diego Colon's, Columbus' son's castle, which is kept to that date and find yourself surrounded by that era. Punta Cana is about 1-1/2 hours from Casa de Campo the same as the city and approx. an hour's drive to the major airport. However, if you wish to arrive soon to your vacation destination, there is the La Romana airport, approximately 20 minutes away.

I am an Economist and also have a degree in International Relations. Obtained as well a degree in teaching preschool to 3rd grade and taught kindergarten for 12 years.
Now I am a real estate consultant in the Florida area and can assist in purchasing in Casa De Campo. I love reading, writing and of course swimming.
I grew up at the beach...and inherited my villa.
The feeling of being so close to nature, and the ocean view from all of the back of the home. The ability to enjoy a private beach whenever I want to. The opportunity to play golf in the Caribbean best golf courses. I feel pampered as I arrive and everything is ready for me. Safety, I don't have to worry about walking around, driving a golf cart. In addition, the great service and smiles of all that makes Casa de Campo so special.
It's a nice old house, has everything you need for your stay, don't expect luxury... We had a great time..
Older home located in private section of resort. A little difficult to find so ask for directions. Very clean and well maintained. Only Bedrooms have AC. Owner is very responsive and helpful. If you are looking for some privacy this is your place. Pool, beach and marina all within minutes of condo. You will need a car or access to golf cart during your stay. We used our rental car.
We had a memorable trip to Casa De Campo over Christmas. The resort is amazing, beautiful beaches, an awesome recreated old Italian village and cool new Marina area are just some of the fun things you can find at Casa. We rented this villa from Maria who was just so helpful and nice and made our stay great. We hired an inexpensive housekeeper who did a great job keeping the place clean for us and doing our laundry everyday. The Villa is very nice, 2 bed 2 bath, nothing as fancy as the surrounding villas but perfectly fine for me, my husband, our 1 year old baby and 8 year old. The villa doesn't have great access to the outside, there's a nice little yard in the back but you have to walk around the house to get to it but for us, this was perfect for our 1 year old so we didn't have to worry about her falling into a pool or anything. However, if you rent a golf cart you don't really need access to the outside because you can walk up to the pool a minute away at the tennis center or ride over to the beach. Bring an iron and blow dryer if you can't live without. This was one of our favorite vacations. I recommend renting a car for economics, otherwise it's about $120 each way for a taxi from Punta Cana airport (1 hour ride) and you'll need transportation once in Casa. Or do what we did and take taxi's both ways and rent a golf cart, it's more fun and we enjoyed being car free the whole trip. Def thumbs up!
We stayed in the villa for 8 nights and truly enjoyed Casa de Campo!
We visited Bayahibe where we snorkled, we drove to Macao Beach near Punta Cana, We visited la Zona Colonial and Faro a Colon in Santo Domingo, and went horse riding and explored the Cave of Wonders. On the other 2 days, we went pool hoping through 7 of the 20 pools in Casa de Campo and took the hike/down 300 steps to see Chavon River, where we visited the museums (ambar and archeological) and the amphiteather. On another day we went to Playa minitas, the marina and went to the movies there.
The villa is truly for 4 people. We requested a small bed for an additional guest, but is not the most comfortable, there are also not enough chairs to seat all 6 people in the dining table (nor placemats). But, overall the villa is spacious, great natural breeze, the feeling of the surrounding nature is amazing!, do not expect any luxury, the pictures are very accurate. Casa de Campo overall is a magnificent location of luxury and comfort (golf, shooting range, private beach, equestrian classes, tennis club etc) with everything you need, it is huge, so you need to either have a car or prepare to rent a golf cart. We had a rental car and had all the flexibility to move around, people in Dominican republic were very kind and helped us get around (I had a map, but during our 4 days exploring, we asked about 50 people at intersections, and they were all very helpful).
Maria does a great job at communicating with you, before, during and after the trip. I forgot my car keys in the villa and she was able to help me and will have them shipped to me. She also offers you additional services for a driver, a maid and a golf cart rental. In summary, you are getting a great location spot, for a wonderful reasonable price!
If you are not in need of a luxury villa, just a clean, well kept home with comfortable beds and other amenities, then this 2 bedroom/2 bathroom villa is a great place for you. If you are just 2-4 people and feel that renting a 5 bedroom villa is a bit over-the-top, then this is a great place to be. It is very close to the tennis center with its quiet swimming pool. Maria went out of her way to help us both before and after our stay and was a real pleasure to deal with. Casa de Campo is a wonderful resort and has many, many activities going on within the resort....there's almost no reason to leave.
We had a very nice stay in Casa de Campo, slightly marred by circumstances beyond the owners control. The villa is very nice, and the photos are accurate. It is very charming and comfortable. We enjoyed sitting on the porch looking out at the lush landscaping and views to the ocean. The beds were comfortable and the place was clean. Everything was as expected from the photos and description of the property. There is no doubt that the villa is a very good value compared with other properties at Casa de Campo.
Casa de Campo is HUGE. This has advantages and disadvantages. There is much to do: The golf courses are world class. The beach is very nice, with warm, clear water and beachside food and drink. The tennis courts are near the villa and looked very nice. There was a pool there also. The Marina is fun to walk around with good restaurants (Peperoni and La Casita were great). The Altos de Chavon town is also interesting for a half day trip and/or dining. The problem with the massive size of Casa de Campo is that getting around is an issue. The villa is at least two miles from the beach, marina and Altos. This brings up our problems.
When we arrived at the Punta Cana airport, I proceded to the Hertz counter with my printed reservation form. I was told that there were no cars. I said, "but I have a reservation." I got a shrug of the shoulders. There were simply no cars. We had to take a $120 cab ride to Casa de Campo, I figured that having a car wouldn't matter, since the owner arranged for us to rent the neighbor's golf cart. However, the neighbor had already rented it to someone else. Again, there was nothing we could do. The resort was also out of carts. We walked to the beach - it took 30 minutes in the heat. Luckily, we were able to have the concierge arrange for a ride up the hill to the villa. We finally got a car after three days. But walking Casa de Campo is not a viable option unless you are very fit. The owner was very apologetic about the golf cart issue and offered compensation on a future booking if we want.
Overall, it was a good vacation, especially after we got a car. My advice is to make multiple car reservations and to confirm with the owner that the golf cart will absolutely be there for you, since reservations seem to be less reliable in the DR than in the US.
