The villa has a large, tiled external entertainment area with a fully covered external dining area and a wood-fired barbecue. It's wonderful for al-fresco dining and relaxing! Soak up the sun; or escape from it into the barbecue area. Enjoy great outdoor living in spring, summer, and autumn. Villa Rosi is situated at the top of a small village, and is set in the hillsides of the Apennines. It offers wonderful views across the valley, and full peace and tranquility. The local trattorias offer superb local cuisine at very reasonable prices. Guests are provided with our guide of the best restaurants and trattorias in the area. This is an ideal house in which to relax and enjoy the countryside, entertain, and to use as a base from which to tour the rest of Italy or Europe. The villa is a 30-minute drive from the main A1 Autostrada that links Milan to Rome. Plus it's within easy access to other motorways to the coast, the mountains and the lakes.
Most parts of northern Italy can be reached in two to three hours. Alternatively, you can take the train (Fidenza) and get straight to the city centres without traffic and parking hassles. The high-speed train gets to Milan or Bologna in one hour, to Florence in two hours and to Rome in four hours. Locally, you can shop in stylistic Parma. You can tour the ancient cathedral and the pink marble baptistery. Closer to home, you can shop in the factory outlet centre in Fidenza; or you can enjoy the spa towns of Salsomaggiore and Tabbiano. The cities of Parma and Piacenza offer regular good music concerts and opera. Real opera lovers should try the open-air Arena at Verona, La Scala in Milan, or Giuseppe Verdi's birthplace of Bussetto. Medieval castles can be found in Castel d'Arquato, Bardi, and Fontanellato. And we have our own local castle at Vigoleno. Car racing fans can visit the Ferrari showroom and museum at Maranello, Modena.
Violin fans can go to Stradivarious' birthplace in Cremona. Accordion fans can go to Stradella. And fashion fans can go to Milan and Parma. Food and wine lovers can go anywhere... this is the food belt of Italy! Sports fans can visit many of the local football clubs, or try a round of golf at the Salsomaggiore Golf Course. You can hike for miles and miles around our hills or go swimming at Camping Arizona in Tabbiano -- complete with large slides for the children and the not-so-young.
Enjoy a night in; ask Giovanna (the local property manager who speaks fluent English) to make you one of her lasagnas -- freshly cooked and frozen for your convenience. Having a satellite TV plus a DVD player means you can relax when you wish, and keep up-to-date with world events on CNN. For a different experience, you can connect the stereo to the external speakers and enjoy your favorite music as you drink a glass of local wine on the patio, watching the sun slowly sink behind the opposite hills.
