The home is situated near Whitewater Falls, the tallest waterfall in the eastern United States, and directly on Lake Toxaway, the largest private lake in North Carolina, which has an area of 640 acres and is at an elevation of 3,010 feet. Notes: This 2,800 square foot contemporary vacation home has all the amenities you'd expect. With four private bedroom suites sitting on the center of the largest private lake in North Carolina, you look directly at Mount Toxaway (elevation 4,100 feet). The master suite has a king size canopy bed and a sitting room with amazing views of the lake. The second and third suites have queen size beds and sitting areas with lake views. The fourth suite has a queen size bed, a reclining chair and television with a view of a rustic mountain stream. There are four baths (one with Jacuzzi tub), a two-level great room, dining room and kitchen. You will have use of a washer and dryer, a microwave, dishwasher and ice maker. The LCD High Definition TVs are located in the great room and upper bedroom. The great room also features a Tivo recorder. Direct TV is on all 4 TVs and high speed hook-ups are in every room, with the addition of a wireless connection.

Lake Activities: At Lake Toxaway, you can enjoy swimming, sun bathing, kayaking, fishing (with proper license). The lake is all fresh water, fed by numerous mountain streams, and is always refreshing! We have a spacious, gently rolling lot going right to our private dock with a 22-foot deck boat you can rent on a daily or weekly basis. The boat holds 13 people. It has two bass seats, a trolling motor and a live well. While there is no guarantee you will catch a fish, one group caught a 26 inch Walleye!

Country Club : Full Lake Toxaway Country Club Privileges are available ($150 sign up fee per family) for our guests. All guests receive a spiral-bound informational book and 3-D map, provided with the rental. These books contain information about nearby restaurants, craft and antique shops, numerous hiking trails, waterfalls, horseback riding stables, white-water rafting and information about snow skiing. Families have been drawn to the dramatic mountain views and crystal clear waters of Lake Toxaway for years. In the early 1900's famous names like Henry Ford, Thomas Edison and Harvey Firestone could be found in the registers of local hotels and country clubs at Toxaway.

Other Amenities: The laundry room offers a washer, dryer, ironing board, iron, and vacuum cleaner. The kitchen includes a full-size refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, stove/oven, drip coffee maker, toaster, blender, eight settings of silverware and dinnerware, basic cooking spices, plus all the gadgets and utensils you'll need (corkscrew included). There is a large heating fireplace along with owner-provided wood. Our game shelf includes several games, and our video shelf contains over thirty videos of both recent and older movies.

Excellent Mountain Experience

My family and I spent 1 week at the Lakefront Mountain Retreat located on Lake Toxaway. The experience was truly wonderful. The location is great with easy access to a community dock and boat that we rented with the home. Sitting on the deck of the home which looks out onto to Lake Toxaway was fantastic. We spent a lot of time on the boat tubing with the kids and taking slow cruises before dark. The house was located near some great hiking trails, a horse farm where we went riding,a great camp where we enjoyed zip lining and golf courses where we played golf (including the Lake Toxaway Country Club). The home is also very conveniently located near a couple of great restaurants including the Brown Trout where we had a wonderful dinner. All in all my family and I had a fantastic time and highly recommend the home for anyone who loves the mountains and lake.

Mountain Lake House Getaway

My husband and I had a wonderful time staying in this home away from home. This beautiful home is very spacious and includes a beathtaking view of the lake from almost every room in the house. We enjoyed taking the boat out on a relaxing ride which gave an amazing view of the lake. The boat ride really made you feel apart of the lake and the mountains. We enjoyed lunch at the country club on the outside porch facing the golf course and mountains. The staff really made you feel like you were a long time resident of the lake. We also enjoyed the many quaint towns (Brevard, Ashville, Highlands and Cashiers) close to the house. All of these towns offered great restaurants and shopping. THe best thing about the house is the ability to do so many things such as hiking to beautiful waterfalls, fishing, golfing, kaiaking, zip lining or just sitting on the deck and enjoying the beautiful view of the mountain and lake. It was very relaxing and wonderful stay. We can't wait to come back to this lovely home.

This place has it all -- beautiful view, well-maintained fireplace, comfortable beds, pontoon boat, hiking trails, and great restaurants and shopping nearby. We've rented this lovely home twice and recommend it highly. The area is easily accessible, with a nice place to park and no cliffs to accidently drive over. There are several breath-taking waterfalls and parks a short drive from the house. This home will definitely remain on our short-list of places to return to time and time again.

Wonderful home for four couples. Beautiful view and access to lake. Location was excellent for all of the areas activities. We were pleased that we could go right to the dock and put in the canoe and kayaks. Had an outstanding long weekend with a superb meal at Madisons in the Old Edwards Inn in Highlands.
