The cottage was super clean, very comfortable and tastefully decorated. We had every amenity we needed including a private beach, laundry and ample space to park all our bikes. We loved the privacy and quiet side of the island. The owners were helpful for restaurants, great family trails and shopping.

A wonderful little getaway!

We had a great week in Maine and our stay in the cottage felt like home. There was plenty of room for 2 couples and our teenage son. The rooms are clean and comfortable and are just as they appear on the listing photos.
We enjoyed eating some of our meals out on the deck. The kitchen had everything we needed, including a lobster pot which we used several times out on the grill.
It's a short walk down to the cove to explore the shoreline. We also used the canoe that is available for guests.
We found lots of hiking trails on "the quiet side" of the island and also did some exploring in Acadia.
We had great weather except for 2 rainy days which we used to visit the local harbor towns.
Richard and Mary Ann were very helpful and the property is well maintained surrounded by beautiful gardens.
We would recommend the nature cruise out of Bass Harbor. It's a 2 hour guided tour around some of the harbor islands. We saw bald eagles, seals, and lots of island birds. We also learned a lot about local history and lobstering.
We would recommend "The Quietside Cafe" in Southwest Harbor after stopping there for lunch and ice cream one day.
On our last night, we enjoyed a great dinner at "Sea Ketch" in Bass Harbor, and saw a baby moose on our way back to the cottage.
We all enjoyed our wonderful little getaway at the Cove Cottage!

A Gem!

This cottage is beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. The interior appears recently renovated, bright and open, and the kitchen is well stocked. The gardens are lovely, and the view of the cove from the deck is pure Maine pleasure.

My husband and boys loved taking the canoe (thoughtfully provided by the owners) out on the cove, and I enjoyed reading in the loft nook. The nearby town of Southwest Harbor is charming - a good spot for ice cream or catching a ferry to the nearby islands. There are great hikes and tide-pooling nearby as well.

We found our hosts to be gracious and helpful. I would not hesitate to recommend this property to the fussiest of relatives.

Charming home in a beautiful setting

My wife and I stayed at Cove Cottage for a week in early June. Although we had a couple of days of rain and cloudy weather, our selection of this particular rental more than made up for the weather. The cottage itself was immaculate. The beds were extremely comfortable and the kitchen fully equipped. There is a beautiful view of the cove and a short 2 minute walk will take you down to the shoreline. The owners have also generously supplied a canoe, life jackets and oars for the use of guests and at high tide launching the canoe off the rocky shoreline is easy. This is the "quiet side" of the island so for any shopping or restaurants a car ride is necessary. For those who want to just relax, sit out on the deck or even use the gas BBQ for meals, this cottage is ideal. On clear nights, one can get an unparalleled view of the stars in the sky, something that is impossible in the city. And one day we did have a couple of unexpected visitors...a couple of deer wandered onto the lawn to inspect the beautiful flowers in the garden!

My husband, two friends and I spent a lovely week at Cove Cottage for our first experience to Maine and Acadia. The cottage is exactly as shown in the pictures. Very clean and charming. Views are wonderful. Cute small squirrel ate rosehips on the deck railing each day. The kitchen had everything necessary to cook lobster, pasta and robust breakfasts. We will definitely visit again because the owners are extremely nice and offered ideas for meals and views. Thanks Maryann and Richard!
