This oceanfront beach house is located on one of the world's most famous, lush, tropical beaches -- only steps from the water. It's at the end of a white sand, half-moon beach.
The spacious openness of the house allows for spectacular views of Cane Garden Bay and surrounding islands. Enjoy sunning, snorkeling, and sailing in the bay. Furnished in caribbean charm but with all the modern amenities. Lounge on the patio and listen to waves lapping or walk to restaurants at opposite end of the bay. The ultimate get away.
This is one of the few houses on Tortola that is right on the beach. Turquoise blue water right out the front door.
Besides Tortola, I live in NYC, Florida and a 200 year old farm house. I love the idea of living in different environments from the big city to the country to a small island. Its an interesting world we live in and we need to realize life is more than just going to the mall.
Jane Clarke purchased this house in 1975
I did not want to be in a typical 'tourist', 'vacation' or 'condo' area, I wanted to have a different experience in another culture. When I bought the house the sugar for the rum distillery was delivered on the backs of donkeys and a small steel drum band would play at the little restaurant down the beach. I felt like I was in a foreign country without having to travel a long distance. Being right on the water with spectacular views of the bay and other islands was incredible! A tropical paradise.
We had been planning this vacation for some time and we were not disappointed! The views are stunning and the location is perfect!! House is comfortable and was perfect for our group of 6. From the beginning Jane, the owner, and Sam, the manager, were very helpful and made this experience so wonderful. One thing I never saw mentioned was the stereo. The house is wired for music. This was great! (We actually brought our Satellite radio and didn't need it while we were at the house.)
We visited some of the other islands, did some scuba dives and snorkeling and relaxed. I would recommend renting snorkeling equipment as there are great fish to see right by the house and in the bay. Short walk down the beach to many restaurants and bars. Zip Line on Tortola was a great way to see some of the fabulous views. As recommended, we did the provisioning from Rite Way for food. Easy and reliable. We did not rent a car. Sam recommended Paul for cab arrangements. He was one of the nicest people we met on our trip. We gave him our itinerary and he was there everytime!
This trip was planned for my 50th birthday. We are all in our 40's and early 50's but I would recommend this for people of all ages. Something for everyone and every age!! Absolutely perfect!!
We created memories from our holiday at Cane Garden Beach House that will stay with us forever. You know that you are some where very special when visiting this wonderful house and little town. Life is simple and gentle here and the days just float by; recapturing this experience somewhere else will be pretty difficult. Thanks Jane for exposing us to your amazing little piece of paradise and sorry for being late with this review, all my best Lisa K.
We so enjoyed Cane Garden Bay beach house. Great location, wouldn't stay anywhere else. Can walk to beach and restaurants and grocery store. Also glass blowing establishment next to Myett's also Caldwood Rum Distillery there. Up the hill a 5 min drive is BananaKeet Restaurant and Stout's for views and libations. The house is exceptional. True old feel Caribbean style house, but very comfortable. Everything worked great...A/C fine in bedrooms. We didn't use the AC on the first 2 nights as didn't need it for the breeze was fine...the only reason we turned it on at all the rest of the nights was to sleep, as the ocean was quite noisy...what a great problem to have! Views, pelicans and the friendly people of Tortola will have us coming back. Took a Catamaran trip the next week on "The Sweetest Thing" best trip!! We had a trip of a lifetime and between this beautiful house and our Cat trip and crew, it is certainly going to be hard to top this trip...just have to save up our pennies and do it again.
Thanks Jane for letting us share your beautiful house. Hopefully we will be back again.

We are 3 couples that shared the Beach House for a week of fun and sun. We started off every morning with breakfast on the open porch overlooking beautiful Cane Garden Bay watching the Pelicans and Seagulls dive down to catch the little fish that make their home about 30' from our viewing point. We planned day trips to many of the islands (ferried to Virgin Gorda, Anegada and Peter Island) (charted a boat to take us to Norman Island, Willie T's, the Caves and the Indians (a must see for any snorkeler)(took the Aristocrat Catamaran to Sandy Cay, Diamond Cay and Jost VanDyke) and then would come back to the beautiful house on the beach to take in the sunset and enjoy an evening drink or two along with dinner as we shared the day's sites and sights. The house is an easy walk to the town of Cane Garden Bay which has many bars, restaurants and a couple of grocery stores along with a nice little bakery there is also a Glass Blowing place called GreenVI that trains local apprentices to use recycled glass and will soon be using used Vegetable oil instead of Propane to hear their furnace. We bought a couple of nice pieces which they made for us while we watched. If you feel the need for a little more exercise then there is a nice little bar at the top of the hill that overlooks Cane Garden Bay - Stout's Overlook Bar - it is only about 2 months old and has great views of the sunset and the Bay. All in all it was a great week with great friends in a great beach house on a great island in the middle of Paradise. This was our 5th trip to the BVI but the first time that we had stayed on Tortola. We are looking forward to our next trip back to Paradise and the house on the Beach.
My family just returned from an incredible trip to Tortola. We can't say enough good things about this beach house! It really was the perfect location and setup. The house is adorable and because it's located at the very end of the beach, completely private. There were a few days that the cruise ships brought in lots of people to Cane Garden Bay, but this was not an issue for us at all since we had our private paradise all the way at the end of the bay. It was also incredibly convenient to have all the bars and restaurants in walking distance. We did not rent a car and had no regrets. We took several outings using a taxi and that satisfied us for the week. This house was too good to leave. I would highly recommend it to those looking for a quiet escape with the ability to walk to your entertainment. Sam, the house manager, took very good care of us. She was incredibly responsive to every email and phone call. When we return to Tortola, we will without a doubt stay at the Garden Bay Beach house again. Thank you!
I've been coming to the BVI for years and always saw this spectacular house from a distance. Who would have thought that actually staying in it would so far exceed my expectations?? Literally, there is no house on all of Tortola so close to the beach, and since it's the last house on the busy Cane Garden Bay, not many people bother to come close so it feels completely private. There's not many scenic places on the island where you can have that privacy, yet be able to actually walk to bars, restaurants, not to mention a little grocery store (compared to the somewhat crazy driving experience). The main room of this house is so open and airy, and each bedroom is contained and has air conditioning and ceiling fans so no worries about sleeping in a hot room. The master bedroom has this crazy outdoor shower too. I wish I could take it home with me!!! Such a tasteful, classic home, especially compared to the newer rental places with so little character. This place has such unique character, I feel so lucky that it's available as a rental and I am telling all of my friends that they need to stay here.
Also, the owner, Jane, could not have been more accommodating and informative. I don't think she lives on the island but she has a great staff of managers and housekeepers who keep it in great shape. Still, it's not the type of luxury that one would expect from a full service hotel. Go to Frenchman's Cay or Peter Island Resort for that. This is a much more unique experience.
