Walk to Main St, 4B/5Ba, Garage, Theater, Hot Tub, Gourmet Kitchen

My mom, Lynn, and I bought this house as a spec house in 2005. It was a 1100 sq foot run down miners house from around 1901. No one had lived in this house for over 40 years, it was being used as a place to store skis for the owners who lived in SLC. The only sign of life was a raccoon who came in from the cold through a fireplace. We gutted the home and added an addition. Somewhere during the remodel and addition we fell in love with the home and decided to keep it for our family. We started renting it in December 2008.

During our remodel and addition we found fabulous little touches in the home that we were able to save and put back in the new house. The bricks from the original fireplace were cleaned and are now used in the living room fireplace, master bedroom fireplace and wine room. The original floor was found under two layers of laminate and still looked great. After sanding it down it can now be seen in the living room and dining room. We were able to save gorgeous wide boards from the walls of the original home and use them as additional hardwood in the hallways and stairs. Lastly, the original sink was restored and now can be found in the pantry off the kitchen.

Besides all of the little details that were added, the location can't be beat. It is right across the street from Swede Alley (the road behind Main Street), you can walk to Main Street for your morning cup of coffee at Cows in about 1 minute, the transit center is down the stairs and a block to the right- that will take you where you need to go for free (if you don't use the 2 car garage) and the town lift is just on the other side of Main Street.
