Wonderful Home!

  • 5 of 5
We stayed here for 4 days in April 2014. The house is very beautiful, clean, spacious, and had everything that we needed. The owner has detailed instructions for any questions that may arise and is also accessible if you need her. The house is in a great location in Berkeley, just a mile to the University, the BART, and even closer to the grocery and great restaurants. The inside and outside of the home are immaculate. The garden and outdoor area is gorgeous. The home is on a very quiet and safe street. The owner is very nice, helpful and accommodating. Highly recommend!

Owner's Response: UC BERKELEY CAMPUS is a 10 BLOCK 20 MINUTE WALK FROM THE HOUSE! ASHBY BART IS 7 BLOCKS SOUTH ON MLK WAY! THERE IS A BUS STOP AT PARKER ST & MLK WAY! BERKELEY BOWL, the "the venerable Berkeley grocery store" is 5 BLOCKS!

A visit from San Clemente

  • 5 of 5
This home was a great place to stay. Betty was very accommodating with our requests. She was in constant communication with me prior to our stay. The property was well maintained and clean. A very warm and friendly place. The home is in walking distance to the Bart. Parking is very easy. One of the reason we stayed here was to be able to park and visit San Francisco/Berkeley without a car! I highly recommend this property. I will be back. Thanks Betty!

Charming and tranquil oasis in Berkeley

  • 5 of 5
My husband and I spent several days in this sweet cottage while attending a workshop in Berkeley. It was cozy and comfortable, full of character (rare these days), well-equipped, and extremely quiet while still being right in the heart of things. It was a perfect spot to unwind in after our long days out. Betty was an excellent host, always available to answer all our questions before our arrival and during our stay. We would definitely come again!

Best of Berkeley

  • 5 of 5
I chose Betty's house after seeing the O"Keefe & Merritt stove in the kitchen photo.I figured that anyone with that good of taste in ovens, probably had great taste overall.I was not mistaken. The house is set back off the street and surrounded by trees and flower beds.As you walk in you step back in time. The house is appointed with antique charm and the modern conveniences a teenager demands. The big screen samsung tv is hidden inside a beautiful hutch.Out the backdoor you have a perfectly manicured lawn and garden with a barbeque grill, swingset, and a glass top table and chairs. The kitchen is well stocked with flatware, dishes, and pots and pans to enjoy the aforementioned O'Keefe & Merritt. There is also a fridge, microwave, coffemaker, teakettle, and a washer and dryer.Upstairs are two similar sized rooms with queen beds and HD TV'S.My bed was very comfortable, but my teenage daughter had a challenge getting out of her bed each morning (I think the bedding was possessed). The clawfoot tub and pedalstal sink would fit perfectly in a rejuevenation hardware centerfold.Waterpressure in the shower is great. The house is one block from MLK,turn left and it will take you to Albany, turn right and it will take you to Oakland.Shattuck is about 4 or 5 blocke away, but the gourmet ghetto section is another 5 or 6 blks. north. There is a market on Shattuck and Oregon that has an organic produce section as big as a whole Safeway or Albertson's.You are a fifteen minute walk from UC Berkeley if you walk fast, but with all the distractions along the way I would plan on 45 min.to an hour.BART is about a 10 min. walk but you're in Berkeley, why would you want to cross the bay.The house is comfortable, ideally located, and Betty has provided for your every need.If you want a great place to stay in the east bay, look no further.I tried to give it 7 stars but VRBO only allows 5,you'll agree it's worthy of more, five is merely excellent .

A wonderful stay!

  • 5 of 5
Charming home, lovely garden setting. Close to Berkeley Bowl easy drive to gourmet Ghetto.
We stayed for 4 days with 2 good friends and wished we could have stayed longer. There wasn't a thing we would add. It was just perfect. The beds were so comfortable, and we were able to smell the wonderful jasmine growing outside our bedroom window. If it hadn't rained so much we would have loved to have our morning coffee on the back patio!

Highly Recommended! Quiet Charming Berkeley Home

  • 5 of 5
We stayed in this house for 12 days. The house is very beautiful, clean, Berkeley style Vintage home. It is fully equipped with anything you might need. The garden in well tended, peaceful and very pleasant (also with swings if there are kids in your group). The location is close to Central Berkeley, 10-15 min. walk from BART, on a quiet street and safe. The owner is very nice, helpful and accommodating. We had a very nice time and hope to return. We highly recommend this house.
