Best of Berkeley
I chose Betty's house after seeing the O"Keefe & Merritt stove in the kitchen photo.I figured that anyone with that good of taste in ovens, probably had great taste overall.I was not mistaken. The house is set back off the street and surrounded by trees and flower beds.As you walk in you step back in time. The house is appointed with antique charm and the modern conveniences a teenager demands. The big screen samsung tv is hidden inside a beautiful hutch.Out the backdoor you have a perfectly manicured lawn and garden with a barbeque grill, swingset, and a glass top table and chairs. The kitchen is well stocked with flatware, dishes, and pots and pans to enjoy the aforementioned O'Keefe & Merritt. There is also a fridge, microwave, coffemaker, teakettle, and a washer and dryer.Upstairs are two similar sized rooms with queen beds and HD TV'S.My bed was very comfortable, but my teenage daughter had a challenge getting out of her bed each morning (I think the bedding was possessed). The clawfoot tub and pedalstal sink would fit perfectly in a rejuevenation hardware centerfold.Waterpressure in the shower is great. The house is one block from MLK,turn left and it will take you to Albany, turn right and it will take you to Oakland.Shattuck is about 4 or 5 blocke away, but the gourmet ghetto section is another 5 or 6 blks. north. There is a market on Shattuck and Oregon that has an organic produce section as big as a whole Safeway or Albertson's.You are a fifteen minute walk from UC Berkeley if you walk fast, but with all the distractions along the way I would plan on 45 min.to an hour.BART is about a 10 min. walk but you're in Berkeley, why would you want to cross the bay.The house is comfortable, ideally located, and Betty has provided for your every need.If you want a great place to stay in the east bay, look no further.I tried to give it 7 stars but VRBO only allows 5,you'll agree it's worthy of more, five is merely excellent .
