The Cascina Curairone is situated at an altitude of 630 m and is a more than 200-years-old, traditional, piedmontese country house, completely renovated resp. rebuilt by us in the old style in 2004 and 2010. One wing of the house has become our new domicile, the other part we would like to offer for rent. Reconstructing the house we have taken an effort to combine the ancient - 100-years-old wooden doors - with the modern - photovoltaic facility and heat pump - and nevertheless to maintain the original character of the house.
The spacious holiday apartment (75 sqm) is located on the upper floor of the new built wing and is reached via a broad external staircase.
There is an extra large double bed with bedside tables and a 4-door wardrobe in the spacious bedroom. The tastefully furnished bathroom is equipped with an extra large shower, washstand, WC and bidet.
The large living room with open kitchen, with dining table for 4 persons, is furnished modernly and comfortably. There is a refrigerator with a separate freezing compartment, electric baking oven, a cooker with 4 gas burners, coffee-maker, toaster and all necessary cooking utensils (if there is anything still missing, it can be borrowed from us at any time). A comfortable, large fold-out sofa bed (1,40 m * 1,90 m) in the homely living area provides sleeping accomodation for 1 or 2 more persons. All rooms are equipped with central heating.
The roofed loggia (20 sqm) with wooden seating furniture is at your exclusive disposal and provides shade in the summer, whereas in winter you may enjoy warm rays of sunshine. Of course, there are further comfortable sunny and shady places for chairs and sunbeds for recreation in the ample garden.
From the garden you have a panoramic view of the western Alps with the outstanding Monviso (3.841 m). You can have beautiful walks through forests of chestnut trees or over the hills towards the neighbouring hamlets starting directly from our house. Enjoy quiet and peaceful nature and recover from workaday life, lying in a canvas chair or going on a hike with walking sticks.
The Cascina Curairone is situated at an altitude of 630 m very quietly in a small side valley about 2.5 km outside the village of Bossolasco in the midst of the Alta Langa. Bossolasco is situated on a small ridge at an altitude of 700 m overlooking the splendid panorama of the western Alps and of the green valley of the Belbo stream on the other side. The main ridges of the Alta Langa separate Liguria from Piedmont. It is an area of outstanding natural beauty and diversity. The rolling hills of the vineyards blend into the more arduous slopes of the wooded stream valleys.
By foot, bike, car or motorcycle, not only lovers of nature will be amazed and enthusiastic about this marvellous landscape with castles, medieval hamlets, small typical towns and idyllically situated villages. Those who love to discover city life have a large choice, as well. Take an 'apperitivo' at Alba (ca. 30 min), the town of the international 'White Truffle Fair', take a walk under the arcades of Cuneo (ca. 60 min), the capital of the province, or take a trip to the neighbouring town Dogliani (ca. 15 min) to do a little shopping at the weekly market and have a drink on the 'piazza' afterwards. Since several years the Alba Music Festival takes place in different spots in the summer months with participation of many well-known artists. The yearly festival 'Monfortin Jazz' is internationally well-known.
Piedmont is worth a trip for lovers of sports and art all year round. Within an hour or little more you will reach several large nature parcs in the Maritime Alps and the vast hiking areas in the Western Alps (with excellent conditions for alpine skiing). The beautiful beaches of the Ligurian coast invite you to go for a swim. Golf players find several courses to play on different levels (9-hole or 18-hole courses). Turin with its many museums, frequently changing exhibitions and touristic sights, is always worth a day-trip, as well as Genoa, the mediterranean port city with its tiny winding streets, or Milan, the city of fashion where you can see what will be 'trendy' next year. Discover Piedmont in your own way, we are sure you will enjoy it.
