The most heavenly view on the coast of Maine, wide open ocean, crashing waves, sit on the deck and just let your mind wander, and forget the rest of the world. Watch the lobstermen pull up their traps, walk along the rocky beach. A real escape from the real world, and yet Winter Harbor is less than 4 miles, a quaint Downeast Village, where there is a grocery store, gas station, restaurants, art gallery, and local coffee house with entertainment. If you are looking for real people and non commercialism, this is the place for you!!!!

Nearest Airport: Bangor at 45 Miles
Nearest Ferry: Winter Harbor at 4 Miles
Nearest Motorway: Route One at 6 Miles

Prospect Harbor is the old Maine, quiet fishing village, very scenic coast line. Acadia National Park on the Schoodic Peninsula is just minutes away, enjoy a ten mile loop along the rocky coast, great for bicycle rides, walks, or tour in the car. The house is in a quiet setting one mile down a dirt road, with a few scattered neighbors. There is no internet or cable TV available, but you may go to the local library, 1 mile away to stay in touch with the world. If you like peace and quiet and the sound of the ocean waves......this may be your Heaven!

The place was perfect. It is so incredibly soothing to hear the surf crash continuousley for one week. It was a treat too, to be able to see the monstrous waves come in from Hurricane Bill. The proximity to Schoodic Point, lobster fresh from the dock, and groceries in Winter Harbor made the location perfect; we didn't have to go to far for anything if we didn't want to but nevertheless felt removed from civilization.

This rental truly lives up to its name. A beautiful, picturesque setting over looking the ocean. Enjoy the sound of the crashing waves, the moon over the water, the beauty of nature from the large deck. Leave the cares of the world behind, along with your cell phone and lap top (no coverage), and enjoy peace and solitude with nature. Take games, puzzles and videos along. A true vacation -perhaps as close to heaven as you can get.
