Prelude!!: Christmas Prelude: 12/5-12/7 and 12/12-12/14: A Kennebunkport tradition--from the opening champagne reception to Santa's arrival in Cape Porpoise, Christmas Prelude is a fabulous time to visit 'the port'. The town is beautifully decorated with traditional Christmas greens and there are concerts, candlelight caroling, a Christmas tree lighting, and historic walks through town. This is a wonderful time to enjoy Kennebunkport's finest restaurants and get your Christmas shopping done in Dock Square and at the craft fairs. And when it snows, it is a postcard perfect way to begin the Christmas season. Prelude is scheduled for the first 2 weekends in December.
We were in Kennebunkport over Columbus Day weekend and stayed in the charming house for a couple of days with my family of 4, my sisters family of 4 and my parents. The kids loved the sprawling backyard and the house was perfect for our size. Very well maintained on the inside and outside and close proximity to town. We would gladly come back and stay in the same property! Katie is lovely to work with and had a great experience overall. Thank you!
I was in a group of 10 people that stayed at this beautiful home. The home was so warm and inviting and was a perfect fit for such a large group. We had everything we needed and the location was awesome. Although we did not have small children, the house was set up nicely for families. I even left one of my favorite jackets and when I contacted the owner about it she said that she found it and would mail it back to me. This was an awesome place and I look forward to returning to it if we return to the area. Thank you Katie for allowing us to stay in your beautiful home.
It has only been a week since we left the Cup and Saucer and I'm wishing we were still there. What a beautiful spacious home for our family of 9 plus a 10 month old. This home is in the perfect location to walk to local shopping and restaurants. The recommendations provided by the owner were spot on. No doubt that we will be returning here for future vacations.
This wonderful historic, beautifully furnished home was absolutely perfect for our family of twelve...three couples and six children ages 3 through 14. There was an abundance of space in which to enjoy private time and allow for naps, but the common areas were perfect for family time. The kitchen was everyone's favorite spot, and meals at home were easy and fun. Sleep was oh, so sweet with comfortable beds and open windows at night! Loved Saint Ann's Church; Parson's Beach; folks at Port Lobster and the lobsters they prepared for our last evening's dinner at home; countless walks to town and back; nightly visits with the children to Ben and Jerry's; and breakfast at H.B. Provisions. There were toys for the children, bikes in the garage, and all the comforts of home. This is NOT your typical vacation rental. We felt we were guests in a friend's home, and the owner couldn't have been more helpful or accessible. If you book this property, you will NOT be disappointed.
We rented the "Cup and Saucer House" for a three-family vacation. The only negative to this home was we only rented it for one week and not two! We had a party of 8 (including a two-year old, and a ten-month old). Everything was just perfect! This house is MUCH larger and beautiful than the photos! The large, private back yard was also wonderul! The background for the family photos was lovely!
The bedrooms were huge each having a king bed for our 6 adult couples and there was a crib and youth bed for the young ones! The privacy between the rooms is just amazing! We never heard the little ones once they went up to bed, nor did we hear them in the morning!
One day and evening we had my husbands extended family over and there was plenty of room in the dining room for all to have a "sit down dinner"! There was not only space in the dining room for all but the driveway not only acomodated our three cars but four others from our other family members! And there was still room!
The town of Kennebunkport is just lovely with plenty of resturaunts (Katie provided us with many different favorites of her families, and they were delicious!) Also there are many "nicer" stores to browse and shop in!
The most wonderful thing about this house is that every time we turned the key to walk in, we felt "at home"! Even my two year old granddaughter that was SO excited to fly out there, said she did not want to go home! Our little ones did have a grand time! Katie had a basket of toys in the sun room for them to play with, there were beach toys in the garage as well! There were so many little touches added to this place that each room, it seemed had a nice suprise!
This house is perfect for hosting large family gatherings, so do not be fooled by the photos! It was also very clean and beautifully stocked and furnished if anyone wanted to cook! I would not hesitate to rent the cup and saucer home again! And if you are traveling with young children it is perfect! Or also lovely for wedding parties, or other large celebrations. It also was very clean and all mechanics were nice and up to date! One thing I was concerned about a bit was the lack of central air since we live in Cincinnati where it is very hot and very humid! THAT was not a problem at all! The window fans kept the house so comfortable everyone slept very well! There was even a way to set the temperature of them!
Thank you so much Katie and Paige for your hospitality and sharing this wonderful home!
This beautiful house was spacious enough for at least three families. The large, well-equipped kitchen and beautiful dining room were perfect for preparing and serving meals, as well as entertaining our large group. The gathering rooms were warm and inviting, while the gracious bedroom suites housed our guests more than adequately. Its location was in the quieter part of town, while dining and shopping options were within a block or two. I would recommend this house for families gathering here in Kennebunkport for a wedding or reunion--or just to relax.
