Not as advertised

This property was very run down. The yard was not landscaped. There was a vent hole in the kitchen wall repaired with a potholder stuffed in it. The furniture was very old and I would not sit on the couch without my beachtowel on it. There was a washer but no dryer. There was a 2 car - carport full of old exercise equipement and junk. The gas grill was very old and rusty and did not cook the food. There was 2 microwaves but only one worked. The towels were dusty and moldy smelling. There were cobwebs at the ceiling and the bathroom was not clean. The third night we were there we found a cockroach in the tub 2-3 inches long. We did not turn off the lights in the house after that. The people that rented the '"manor" attached said exactly the same things. The couple they were with would not stay there and they left to stay with friends. They left 1 day early. I usually do not write reviews because I think different people have different standards, but this was our vacation that we had planned for a few and I could not wait to leave.
Owner's Response: The most curious thing about all of this is the fact that we never heard one word of dissatisfaction from these guests, while they were here. If they had mentioned these things to me while they were here, I could have shown them the dryer, demonstrated the operation of the grill, and responded to any other concerns that they had. Since this is the first negative review that I have ever had in 15 years of operation, it is mind boggling to see so many things that are provably false. The most astounding of these is the claim that there is no dryer.The dryer is right next to the washer.It would be impossible to see the washer without seeing the dryer. We used the washer and dryer, before and after this rental, with no problems.The next most astounding is the false claim that the barbeque grill does not work.We ourselves, and other renters, have used the barbeque grill since this rental, with no problems.The couch is less than 2 years old. Receipts for its purchase are available. These guests spent 3 days carrying things in and out of the unit, and THEN saw one, and only one, insect. If there had been an infestation prior to their use of the unit it, would not have taken 3 days to notice it. We will spray again today.The exercise equipment is appreciated by those who choose to use it. Those who do not choose to use it should not be bothered by the space that it uses, since it is not in any place that they are renting. Yes, we have learned that one of the two microwave ovens is now not working. We will attend to that now. How many microwave did they need?If they needed 2 microwaves they would have called us.With regard to the hearsay about people in the other unit: the fact is that those who actually rented the unit stayed the full time. They had some guests, who left 1 day early. The credibility of the other subjective opinions should be evaluated in light of the statements that are provably false. I re-iterate that we never heard one word of dissatisfaction from these guests, while they were here, when I could have been of service. But then, if they had mentioned these things to me while they were here, they would have had to look me in the eye, as they said these things.
