The BEST Family Vacation
This was by FAR one of the most memorable vacations for me and my Family. I sincerely want to thank the owners for opening up their Mountain Retreat to us. Let me start off by saying that the photos, descriptions and details of this property do NOT do it justice. When we first pulled up to this secluded sanctuary, I was in awe by the view. And that was just the beginning...
We booked this house for a week as a 35th Wedding Anniversary gift to my parents. There were 11 adults and 2 babies--a 6 month and 9 month old. With 13 of us total, there was never a time when we felt crammed. The kitchen was beautiful and spacious enough to allow us to sit down as a family for dinner. The game room was a bonus, which the men adored. The family room was a perfect playroom for the babies. The pool was where we spent most of our time relaxing and taking in the sun and the view. Two nights during the trip we had a campfire, and the moon and the stars were more vivid and bright than ever.
The majority of our time was spend at the house...there was no reason to leave this gem in the mountains. My dad got in his daily run most mornings, and my sister and I went for a walk and took some great shots of a nearby river. We played basketball, washers, and even tye dyed shirts. Some of us went into town to do some shopping while others went to see Flume Gorge. Together, we all took a ride to view some of the White Mountains, and hiked up Ripley Falls. Late in the week we took a 40 minute drive to dinner, which was fabulous. We saw moose, and some of us saw a bear during our stay.
This vacation couldn't have been more perfect for us. We are a rowdy group that loves the outdoors, but we were also looking for a vacation in which we could just "kick back." And, with two babies on board, we needed a vacation that could also cater to them. This vacation did all of that. There was always something to do, and always intriguing things to see.
Whatever type of vacation you are seeking, this spot has it all. The property was landscaped beautifully, and the house was so clean! The bathrooms and bedrooms were all good sizes and the beds were actually very comfortable! Everything we needed--phone numbers, local attractions, maps, information, etc--was all provided by the owners upon our arrival. You can clearly tell that this house is very well taken care of. I hope that we get the opportunity to go back!
