A perfect home-base for your vacation

Review Submitted: February 1, 2012 Date of Stay: January 2012
This comfortable little apartment in the heart of Old San Juan was cozy, convenient and affordable. We spent most of our time on the balcony when we were home, just taking in the sights and sounds of the wonderful city. There is a view of the bay from the balcony and a couple blocks walk will put you at the edge of the neighborhood overlooking the Atlantic and both historic forts. It was close to a grocery and a couple of drug stores, as well as plenty of restaurants and bars. There is a laundromat very close as well.
Parking was not the nightmare I expected it to be. We managed to always find spaces on the street (thought not necessarily close to the apartment) and never had to use the parking garages.
We traveled in January and never once turned on the AC. The windows and the ceiling fans allowed for a perfect temperature and nice air circulation.
If I have any complaint, it was that there were many vacation rentals on the street, and the people across from us were loud until 3am most nights. Earplugs took care of that. I was reluctant to use them though, because we seemed to have a pet coqui frog living in the courtyard behind our bathroom and kitchen who sang to us each evening and night. One of the loveliest sounds Puerto Rico has to offer.
All in all it was a comfortable stay and a great place to come home to from all of our day trips and nights out.
Our contact, Irma, was very helpful and answered all our questions.
Most likely I will travel to PR again, and most likely I will contact Vida Urbana again to handle my lodging. They were wonderful!
I already miss it...

Wonderful!

Review Submitted: March 28, 2011 Date of Stay: March 2011
I stayed in this rental property with 5 of my girlfriends. We are all in college and were looking for a fun, relaxing spring break. That is exactly what we found! The apartment is a little larger than the pictures show and we were pleasantly surprised. The area is very safe and the apartment was clean. The best part about the rental, however, was the service. The rental company was so quick to attend to our every need. They met us at the apartment as soon as we got there, and any issues we had was quickly resolved (the refrigerator wasn't turned on at first, but they came over that afternoon to take care of that and the water heater). They did a wonderful job of making us feel comfortable and was always available when we needed them. The trip was wonderful and we all loved the place. Would definitely come back!

great apartment

Review Submitted: April 20, 2009 Date of Stay: March 2009
This apartment was even a bit more than we expected, everything was like it was on the photos, but in real life it was bigger. We didn´t use the dining room at all, because we wanted to stay at the balcony. They gave us a map of San Juan when we arrived, that was very nice. The noise someone mentioned in this site, didn´t bother us at all. The apartment was clean and there was a lot of space for ice and drinks in the fridge. The closest empty beach (not that clean though) was about 15 minutes walking distance. Pretty convenient, isn´t it? Me and my 4 friends stayed there for a week, and had a great time! I would suggest this place to my other friends.

great place to stay in Old San Juan

Review Submitted: March 24, 2009 Date of Stay: March 2009
Stayed here with Friends in March for 4 nights for the World Baseball Classic. Apartment was ideally located for exploring all of Old San Juan. Easy enough to walk down to Plaza de Cologne and get taxi to anywhere else (Isla Verde beaches / casinos / ballpark). Apartment is a presented in ad, though we all felt it seemed 'slightly' bigger than it looked in the photos. We had nice weather, low 80s in the day, and in the 70s at night. Kitchen was useful and well stocked with utensils / glasses, etc.,. Balcony was nice to hangout on and relax, and the hammock was more comfortable than it looked. Apartment also had wifi and direct TV, though we hardly used either, as we spent a lot of time exploring or at baseball games. Worth checking out - La Bombanera for breakfast (get a Mallorca, they are delicious), and El Jibarito for lunch or dinner, just a few doors up the street on Calle del Sol. Also, live music at the Nuyorican Cafe a few blocks away in an alley between San Francisco and Fortaleza - We went on a Friday night, it was a $5 cover, and the band was incredibly talented. Fantastic trip. Would return to this apartment without hesitation. The rental agency was very easy to deal with too.

Great location, awesome balcony!

Review Submitted: January 7, 2009 Date of Stay: December 2008
The apartment was exactly as described. It is a very simple apartment and renters should remember you are staying in an old part of San Juan in the tropics. The property is fairly well maintained (could have been a little better.) But you are definately in the middle of everything. You are on the same street as some great little cafes, a laundromat and El Jibarito (a great local restaurant.) The apartment is also well equiped with all the utensils and linens you need (even beach towels!)

The only downfalls that really need to be noted are that you are a few blocks away from Calle San Sebastian which is full of great little bars and live music, yes, that is a plus until you go back to the apartment and go to bed. The street noise from the the people leaving the bars and walking to their cars can be extremely loud so consider earplugs. Also closets and bedrooms were a little stuffy.

Apart from those two items it really was a lovely place to stay. Everything worked, it was comfortable, even with just ceiling fans it was comfortable (there is a/c for those who need it.) Again FENOMENAL LOCATION AND BALCONY! The customer service was also great. Very helpful, prompt and available. Would recommend and stay here again.
