Fort Myers Beach Vacation Rental house

We were blessed with 14 days of sunshine in temperatures of 90+ which were excellent for just about everything except golf, although being Scotsmen we still managed to play four rounds! Shell Point is excellent value and a joy to play.
The main purpose of the vacation was for my wife and myself to meet up with our five children plus their partners and our four grandchildren, making a total of 16. We have spent many vacations at FMB in timeshare but obviously required more space with the numbers involved. The villas exceeded our fairly high expectations in almost every way. They were very clean and tidy on our arrival. They were beautifully furnished with all the comforts of home. It was great to have a large supply of beach towels and all the amenities... bikes, kayaks, beach furniture, grills, pool and fishing deck were well used.
The excellent beach was only 7 or 8 minutes stroll away and the beach cart was a great help.
On one occasion we had a problem with the toilet flushing but the this was dealt with promptly and efficiently by our contact.
The only problem that was encountered was the noise level from the air conditioning in the two downstairs bedrooms overlooking the pool but we appreciate that there is probably little that can be done about that. However this in no way marred our enjoyment and we are all looking into the possibility of a return trip in 2010 or 2011.
Having been to FMB many times before we were familiar with the bars and restaurants. Our favourite restaurants are Charley's, Anthony's on the beach, Beached Whale, Parrot Key, Matanzas Inn, Snug Harbor and of course the Heavenly Biscuit for takeaway breakfast. The kids enjoyed late night drinks in the Shamrock.
Sunsets with live music were enjoyed at the Pierside Grill.
Publix was as good as ever and we also found Topps at the end of the road good for a quick shop.
I have already recommended the property to friends and look forward to many return visits to our favourite vacation destination even although it takes 24+hours and 3 flights to get there from our home in Scotland!
