Overview

Pensacola House Rental Photos and Description

House, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 4-6)

This cozy home was totally remodeled and renovated in 2007. The kitchen is large and fully equipt, the dining room seats up to 10 and lends itself well to small parties that often flow out through the kitchen to the back patio. Folding lawn chairs, a portable fire pit, and a large table are available for use on the patio. The house is close to the hub of activities in Pensacola. Festivals, night clubs, churches, restaurants, the harbor, theaters are within walking distance, yet the neighborhood is quiet and family oriented.

The basement fitness room has balls, bands, a punching bag, two pieces of equipment and a large rocking horse for fun. There is an outdoor shower and changing area to enjoy on warm days. In the basement we keep 2 small cots that could accomodate two small children if necessary

The beds are very comfortable. The master bedroom has a small, private, sitting room/TV room. The second bedroom has the 2 twin beds and also houses the Internet connection and a TV. Though the house is not suitable for very small children, those over 6 will enjoy this room and the toy basket in the living room as will as that huge rocking horse in the basement.

About Judith Woerner

My family and I have lived in the North Hill Historic district for 3 generations. Recently my husband and I moved to a subdivision a little farther from downtown. We love to spend special weekends at the De Soto Street house especially if we have attended an event downtown or at the Sanger Theatre. Every few months we like to have a little mini vacation at the house so that we can relax and stroll around the neighborhood, go the the Naval Air Museum which changes often, and then have Sunday brunch downtown or at the Hilton on the beach.

Judith Woerner purchased this house in 1994

Why Judith Woerner chose Pensacola

We love the historic district for walking and enjoying the homes and flowers. But actually, the house has been in the family for a long time. It became run down and my family, my husband, many others, and I totally redid the old place, every inch.

What makes this house unique

It is fun to have our family parties at the De Soto Street House because there is always something for everybody to do there, walk the neighborhood, go to the park, skateboard, cook, sit out in the back under the palm trees, play in the basement. My mother loves to come because she holds court in the living room from her favorite rocking chair. Everybody else mosies around mixing and mingeling. It seems an easy place for everyone to just be.

Guestbook comments from the owner

My guest was reluctant to leave feedback because the site requested too much personal information. She wants you to know she had a wonderful stay. This was her second trip to the De Soto Street House.

Judy the home owner could not have been nicer, met us the first nite. House was clean, well supplied w all our needs, lighting was superb, washer/dryer great, location close to historic district, Naval Aviation Museum, beaches, etc. Neighbors and and feral cats kept to themselves, not loud at bedtime.

A Great Home

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed in the Desoto house as part of our celebration of 25 years of marriage. The home is spacious, well decorated (in calm more neutral colors which fits with a beach town), and the kitchen was big enough and stocked enough for our cooking needs. The owner Judith went out of her way to provide a laundry detergent that suited my chemical sensitivities. There were many brochures and menus available to help make decisions as to how to spend our time (BTW, I highly recommend the GoRetro tours. We did the architecture one).

The only downside for us was that the train was really loud our first night and occassionally other nights. Closing all inner doors helped with that issue.

The rentals across the street mentioned by other reviewers are not great to look at when you go out the door, but the people never posed any problem at all.

I highly recommend this home!

Beautiful Home

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our time in this lovely home! It was Thanksgiving weekend and, although we didn't have Thanksgiving there, we could have. The kitchen and dining room was large enough to have had guests over if we had wished. The beds were comfortable and the bathrooms clean and well stocked. We will certainly come back.

Good home

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at this lovely home. The neighborhood is okay and we felt safe the whole time and it was quiet. We thought it was part of the historic district but it is not but if you walk a block you can see the beautiful historic homes. We really enjoyed walking around.

Beautiful home away from home

  • 5 of 5

Such a cute house! Very clean and surprisingly very spacious. We stayed Sunday - Friday and found everything we needed and more in this home. There were plenty of towels, wash clothes, bedding, blankets, kitchen equipment. The shed held a fire pit, charcoal grill (charcoal included, although we didn't use this), lawn chairs, and other useful things. The backyard is small, but fenced in.

There is a lovely park (Alabama Square) with playground equipment just a 1/2 block away, which was perfect for our kids to play.

The immediate neighborhood was okay. You are on the edge of the beautiful North Hill Historic district. I wouldn't say I felt unsafe, but I can't say it felt like the best location. There is a rental next door and rental across the street. Neighbors were quiet and we had no issues.

As you ventured towards the park area mentioned above, the houses were spectacular if you are into big old well kept houses. Loved the architecture.

Judith was lovely and very easy to work with. She gave us some great suggestions for places to eat and things to do.

If we visit Pensacola again, I'd definately stay at this beautiful home.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much. Bill and I love to share our little getaway home. Glad you liked the park. In the summer there are Ffamily type movies at the park and sometimes parties put on by the North Hill Preservation Association. Everyone loves those times.

A Great Find!

  • 5 of 5

This was a great place to stay and the host was excellent to rent from! The owner went out of her way to make things work for us as our plans kept changing and was very easy to get in touch with. The house was very clean, provided everything needed, and was in a great location! Would definitely use again and recommend to friends!

North Hill is a beautiful historic neighborhood with many restored turn of the century (20th) homes. It is a good place for long walks and running. A neighborhood park is only 1/2 block from the house. Downtown is within walking distance and has many restaurants, museums, entertainments, and our newly restored and remodeled Sanger theater.

Oportunities for deep sea fishing, sailing, and other beach activities abound in the Pensacola area.
