Santa Teresa Surf Vista Villas is a newly constructed resort featuring four luxury units , each with panoramic ocean, surf, and mountain views. We´re located on a small private hilltop with no neighbors, only a 2 minute drive or 10 minute walk up the hill from the white sands of Santa Teresa beach. Each villa has a large bathroom with hot water shower, a fully equipped kitchen, a/c, ceiling fans, wifi capability,safes for your laptop and valuables, ipod music docks, breathtaking ocean views, and lots of privacy and space. Santa Teresa sunsets cannot be seen from a better location. Mornings are peaceful and serene with daily visits from monkeys and exotic birds. Santa Teresa has consistant year round surf and many other activities as well, such as waterfall hikes, canopy tours, and sunset horseback rides on the beach to name a few.  The Cabo Blanco National Park, Curu Wildlife Refugee, and Tortuga Island boat tours are some other great attractions in the area . A full variety of surfboards are available for rent at Surf Vista Villas. We also offer the best Sportfishing, Surf Lessons, and Spanish Classes in the area.  Yoga, pilates, and massage are all within five minutes for reasonable prices and can be arranged on site as well. To access the many great restaurants, surfbreaks, and other activities, a rental car is advised. There are no paved roads in our area, so 4x4 is recommended . Daily or weekly quad rentals are also available for a very reasonable rate. Other amenities in close proximity include a bank, physician and urgent care, several supermarkets including a fresh seafood market, day spas, beach bars and restaurants, and quite a few surf shops and boutiques.

About andy

my name is andy weinstein and I've been living in costa rica for almost two years now . I've worked as a wildland firefighter in the summers and snowmobile tourguide in the winters for several years in the lake tahoe area . in 2001 I started surfing and began taking trips to santa cruz , ca , a really nice town with good waves and cool people , but too cold . in 2003 I began traveling to warmer surf destinations , hawaii , mexico and costa rica . It's been a dream of mine to own and operate a small resort in the snow or near the ocean , somewhere people really enjoy and love to be . I took a few trips to costa rica before discovering the mal pais/santa teresa area , thanks to the advice of a great friend . I knew from my first visit this was the place to fulfill my dream . the beaches are the most beautiful I've ever seen and the layout of the town seemed so perfect . there are so many amazing restaurants and the people are kind and welcoming . the nicoya peninsula is definitely my new favorite place .

What makes this hotel unique

We have the best ocean/wave views in all of Santa Teresa and no neighbors , lots of privacy . There are always monkeys and exotic birds around the property . there's a huge hardwood teak deck overlooking the waves from the second floor , with an outdoor kitchen and bbq area for everyone to use . nothing beats our outdoor waterfall shower after the beach . most of all , the ocean/wave views are just amazing .

Found My Pura Vida at Surf Vista Villas

I was so dusty and exhausted when I arrived at Surf Vista Villas.... as I walked up there was a lovely, personalized note from the host Andy greeting all arriving guests. I immediately felt a calmness come over me and realized I had made it. Located above all the hustle and bustle, dust, and one of the best surf spots in the area, Andy has done an amazing job creating a paradise in Surf Vista Villas. The decks are unbelievable with sweeping 180 degree views of the ocean and the surf breaks below, equipped with large gas bbq grills, plenty of seating, hammocks, etc and a perfect setting to watch the howler monkeys, toucans, or my personal favorite the Mott Mott bird!! The sunsets from the deck are breathtaking and truly a blessing to watch.

The villa itself was perfect! The villas are decorated with beautiful local artwork, have full kitchens with large fridges. The are gigantic in size, accommodating several people comfortably with several beds in each villa. The shower was HUGE, beautifully tiled and super clean! Each villa is equipped with air-conditioning, full living room area, foliage from Andy's amazing lush gardens, was cleaned while I was gone during the day and views from every window!

Andy is the best host, quiet and accommodating, he truly cares about the happiness and enjoyment of all his guests. He will arrange anything you need including ATV's, tours, taxis, etc. His knowledge of the area is vast and his love for Santa Teresa is infectious!

Overall, after 1 month of travelling ALL over Costa Rica, I truly found my Pura Vida at Andy's place. It is an oasis, a paradise, surrounded by wildlife, sweeping views and unbelievable views in a clean, safe beautiful environment! (Speaking to cost, Andy should charge more, I paid $70 more for a room down the street, making Andy's place a ridiculously amazing deal, my room did not have a fridge or kitchen and was just that, a room) I can't say enough about my experience. Do yourself a favor and stay here!! You will never forget it!

A Great Getaway in Paradise

Surf Vista Villa is the best! We woke the first morning to a troop of 17 howler monkeys lounging within a few feet of our deck. It was surreal! Morning coffee amidst the jungle canopy, with a fantastic ocean view, toucans and other exotic birds all about and these incredible monkeys lounging in the treetops next to the deck rails…a magnificent start to a wonderful vacation. We stayed at the Villa for two weeks and each day was a pleasure. There were no end of fun & fabulous things to do--this remote stretch of Costa Rican coastline is known for it’s superb surfing, of course, but you can easily find other distractions to fill your days--whether you like hiking, yoga, bird watching, horseback riding, zip lines, fishing, snorkeling, exploring Cabo Blanco National Park or simply wandering the local beaches, you will love the St. Teresa/Mal Pais area. We were also constantly amazed at the wonderful local cuisine. Our host, Andy, not only gave us great recommendations--Pranamar, Burger Rancho, Zula, the Bakery Café just to name a few--but also arranged for an in-house chef to prepare our fresh catch of the day at the Villa…sublime! The accommodations are spacious, clean and comfortable, the staff gracious & accommodating, the setting stellar…what more could one ask?

Our Favorite place to stay in Costa Rica!

My husband and I chose Costa Rica to honeymoon. Being a bit more unconventional, we packed a small and large backpack and flew into San Jose. Traveling in Manuel Antonio and Montezuma, before arriving at Surf Vista Villas, we were ready for some more of the modern conveniences and Surf Vista Villas offers just that. Remote, beautiful lodging with that modernized feel.

The views are ridiculous, I could barely believe my eyes waking each morning. We even got to witness an amazing electrical shower while we were there. (No better seat in the house!)

The host, Andy makes sure you are completely at home. And the other people staying there, all seem to be on the same vibe. We had an amazing time with other travelers in the vicinity.
One of our other favorite parts of Surf Vista Villas was the open air kitchen. We love to cook, and after about a week of travel, it was nice to wake up and make breakfast, and overlook the jungle and ocean in the distance.

Surf Vista Villas does sit on a hill, (or otherwise you wouldn't have the views you have) and the walks up and down get shorter and shorter as your days go on. Also, Andy will have a good recommendation for an ATV if that isn't your style.

We will definitely be back and recommend Surf Vista Villas to all of our friends!

We had a wonderful time...the owner was very hospitable and helpful in getting information of where to go and what restaurants are recommended. Unbelievable views from his place...absolutely can't believe them. I know people want to stay at the beach but this is well worth the climb up the hill. It far out ranks the other hotels that we investigated.
Very layed back and relaxing atmosphere and the owner went far out of his way to take care of us. We would definitely go back and really appreciate his hospitality.
The other benefit was that you have access to a full kitchen w/BBQ and to the beach. Very comfortable and extremely well kept up. Strong recommendation.
