This historic home, originally built in 1900, was completely remodeled in 2008 and features state-of-the-art amenities in 4,000 sq ft. - one of the largest homes in Crested Butte. Set deep in the central Rockies, the town of Crested Butte (8885 feet/ 2700 meters), a National Historic District, is located 3 miles from Crested Butte Mountain Resort (CBMR), with world-class skiing (alpine & cross-country), snowboarding, ice skating, mountain biking, hiking, kayaking, and fly fishing at your doorstep. Skiers are served by a free shuttle bus that takes visitors from downtown Crested Butte to the ski mountain every 15 minutes until midnight. Your vacation home is located one block from the town center's shops and restaurants, close to two ski shuttle stops, and is surrounded by stunning Rocky Mountain views in all directions. This dream holiday accommodation in southwestern Colorado sets the standard for an unforgettable family vacation memory

Downtown living: Enjoy the convenience of being located one block from the center of town. There’s no need to rent a car, as the town of Crested Butte is connected to the ski area (3 miles away) by a free shuttle every 15 minutes. The house is located 2 blocks from nearest shuttle stop. Nearly all of Crested Butte’s numerous restaurants and bars are within 2.5 blocks from the house, and some of the best are just a block-and-a half away. The nearest small grocery store is 2 blocks away, and the nearest large grocery store is 5 blocks away as well as on the free schedule route. The Crested Butte Nordic ski center (with sledding hill & ice-skating rink attached) is 5 blocks from the house.

Getting there: For arrival by air, the Gunnison-Crested Butte airport (GUC – located 30 minutes/ 28 miles away) is served by United Airlines, American Airlines, and Delta Airlines. Alpine Express (tel: 970-641-5074) operates a shuttle service to transport visitors from the airport to any address in Crested Butte. Hertz, Avis, and Budget all operate offices in the Gunnison-Crested Butte airport.

Other options for arrival by air include: Montrose, Colorado (MTJ – located 1 hour, 45 minutes away by car), Colorado Springs (COS – located 4 hours/ 197 miles away), and Denver International Airport (DEN – located 4 hours, 40 minutes/ 252 miles away).

Ski storage: As an added benefit to guests, the owner provides a large storage locker (for skis, snowboards, boots, poles, goggles, helmets, etc.) slope-slide free of charge. This locker is located at the base of the ski area inside the Treasury Center in Mt. Crested Butte Village and right next to the main lifts. This convenience allows guests to store all their ski & snowboard gear next to the slopes, a major time- and energy-saving advantage for everyone.

Also, Crested Butte hosts numerous festivals throughout the summer that cover a wide-range of interests, such as art, film, music, wildflowers, wild mushrooms, and mt. biking. There are countless spectacular mountains, forests, and alpine lakes surrounding Crested Butte, and this region abounds in Western (i.e. cowboy) culture. Several dude ranches in Crested Butte's environs allow visitors to experience the joy of trail riding in the vast National Forest area that borders Crested Butte in all directions.

  • Steam showers are a MUST in a luxury accommodation in the Rockies, and this property features two of them (one of which can seat 5 people). In addition, there is an 8-person outdoor hot tub on the back deck. The mountain views from this hot tub are stunning.

  • The master bedroom occupies the entire second level of this chalet and features its own Mexican tile and red marble bathroom with steam shower and Rainbird. The junior master bedroom is located on the main level and has its own white marble bathroom with shower and bath tub. Bedroom 3, located on the main level, is secluded toward the back of the chalet and features a large (5-person) steam shower in its spacious bathroom with marble and mosaic details. Bedroom 4 is in the lower level of this home and has its own bathroom with vessel sink, tub and shower. Also in the lower level, the theater room has two large sofas, one of which is a Queen sleeper sofa. Each bedroom has its own television, DVD player, and stereo zone controls. Luxurious down comforters and high thread-count linens on all beds.

The elegance is unsurpassed yet understated. Owners are concerned with the cleanliness and upkeep of this lovely chalet. We were there in the summer, but I want to go back in winter for a ski holiday.It will be a spectacular scene at the foot of the mountains.(I can only imagine the hot cocoa and hot toddies by the fireplace.I can see winter with a positive attitude while everyone else is streaming to Florida. I would recommend this home to my friends. Thanks to Scott and Josephine.

A COZY CHALET? OR A GORGEOUS HOME IN THE MOUNTAINS

Wow! -- THIS WAS AWESOME! We would absolutely recommend staying in this lovely home. What an amazing trip we had to Crested Butte and this beautifully restored historic-yet-modern home. This "chalet" is nothing less than gorgeous - right in the middle of the quaint town within walking distance to everything necessary. And the views were breath-taking, to say the least. For me the best part of our family's trip was "our" beautiful home. The master bedroom & bathroom are so spacious, removed (being on the 2nd floor), and tastefully done. My kids all reported that their bedrooms were cozy and very comfortable. The lush antique furniture blends in well with other furnishings which were obviously purchased from all over the world. The kitchen is gourmet and has fantastic cooking equipment/ utensils. All I needed was the food and we were set for the week.

It snowed 3 feet (!) the week we were there, and although it was cool outside, we were all perfectly comfortable inside (esp. when near either of the home's two fireplaces). I didn't use the big outside hot tub, but our kids loved it. The snowflakes falling on their heads as I gave them hot cocoa was a treat for all of us. Very magical. The whole family and a couple family friends loved every minute of it.

Also, the media room was a nice bonus, since we hadn't realized it was a part of the package (it was stocked with all sorts of video games and DVDs). A great sound system that can play throughout the house and the basement, the ping-pong tables, and the two steam showers had everyone in our group blissfully content during the entire stay. And then there was the wonderful, uncrowded skiing.... Perfecto!

Our family will be back next year and for years to come. It was the best ski trip we've ever taken in the loveliest home in which I've stayed. What a first rate Thanksgiving this was!

Wow! Amazingly gorgeous and comfortable home!

What a warm and welcoming atmosphere this house exudes! Not only is the location outstanding: right in the heart of beautiful Crested Butte, a few blocks from the shuttle up to the mountain, but the amenities are fantastic! From the outstanding bathrooms to the comfy beds, the large dining table, the fun game room,cozy nooks and all the tech gadgets that would please even the most sophisticated, this spotlessly clean, cheerful home, is the best vacation home I have ever stayed in. I will definitely stay here again!
