The house is ideal for those looking for peace, privacy and nature. We found very few tracts of land that are still so architecturally intact that you can see almost only old stone houses apart from meadows and forests. However, the region has many interesting tourist spots and attractions to see, especially Romanesque churches, castles and picturesque villages, without having to run in to tourist crowds. The area is known for its Charolais-cattle, which are considered the best in France - according to the offer in many restaurants. The climate in the south of Burgundy is very pleasant with plenty of sunshine, with not-too-hot summer, the typical travel time between May and September. But the colder seasons have something very attractive to offer, occasionally during winter snow falls, the whole area is sinking into a kind of dreamy state. It will be then very solitary in autumn and winter, and yet the village appears secluded, as it anyway is.

The pool belongs to the neigboring estate, on which is our second, newly renovated house; this we use ourself and is not for rent. The access to the pool is in the garden, there are no fences etc, so it can be used anytime. The pool has a length of 15 meter, so long enough to really swim.

The house also has a barn and an oven for bread.

Accueil chaleureux et très sympathique des propriétaires. Nous avons passé, à trois adultes, une très agréable semaine dans cette charmante maison. zalige vakantie in een prachtige omgeving

leuk huisje, sober maar gezellig ingericht, beneden niet heel groot, maar wel ruime tuin en groot zwembad, leuk om buiten te eten onder het afdak, prachtig uitzicht, zeer rustige omgeving met tal van wandelmogelijkheden, alle comfort is aanwezig, wij keren zeker nog eens terug!

Idylle und Ruhe pur!

Das Haus liegt wirklich sehr idyllisch. Mitten zwischen grünen Hügeln, gesprenkelt mit weißen Charolais-Rindern. Die Wiesen sind von Hecken umgeben und es gibt viele Feldwege. Perfekt zum Spazierengehen und Joggen. Das Dorf besteht aus 6 Häusern, alles alte schöne Bauernhäuser aus Naturstein. Die Nachbarn sind sehr nett.
Man erreicht Orval über eine einspurige, gewunden Straße. Das Ferienhaus hat einen großen Garten mit viel Platz zum toben für die Kinder. Den Swimmingpool haben wir im April noch nicht benutzt. Außer singende Vögel, Bienengesumme im blühenden Apfelbaum, das gezirpte der Grillen, Quaken der Frösche und Muhen der Kühe war nichts zu hören. Mitternacht hat die Nachtigall gesungen.
Dank des fast nicht vorhandenen Verkehrs (max. 3 – 4 Autos am Tag) konnten unsere Kinder (8 und 10 Jahre) alleine Fahrradtouren machen. Die Kinder waren von den Eidechsen in den Felsritzen des Hauses und den Fledermäusen, die an der Decke im Schuppen hingen, begeistert und genossen die Natur und dem großen Garten. Der „Jardenier“ schaute vorbei, um sich zu erkundigen, ob es warm genug ist (die Fußbodenheizung sorgt für wollige Wärme, so dass wir den Kamin nur für die Gemütlichkeit benutzt haben, Brennholz lag reichlich bereit). Das Haus war sehr sauber und es war alles vorhanden, was wir benötigten. Es war also alles perfekt und entsprach der Beschreibung.
Wir haben eine Liste geschrieben mit Empfehlungen in der Umgebung und ins Fenster zu den anderen Infos gelegt. Gute Landkarten von der Umgebung sind vorhanden. Unter anderem gibt es nördlich von Orval in Prizy, zu Fuß über Feldwege nur ca. 3 km, einen kleinen Ziegenhof, auf dem man bei einer sehr netten Frau leckeren Ziegenkäse kaufen kann.
Ca. 6 km südöstlich in Les Noués fanden wir einen kleinen Bio-Bauernhof, der selbstgemachten (Kuh)Käse und andere Bioprodukte verkauft. Eine Boulangerie findet man in Saint-Julien-de-Civry im Nordosten. Im Umkreis von 20 km finden sich schöne kleine Städtchen mit Restaurants, Cafés und Einkaufsmöglichkeiten (z.B. Charolles, La Clayette, Paray-le-Monial)
Wir hatten einen wunderbaren entspannten Urlaub und können das Ferienhaus allen empfehlen, die Ruhe und Natur suchen. Perfekte Umgebung für ausgedehnte Spaziergänge, Fahrradtouren und Joggen. Familien mit Kindern, die Sinn für das Landleben haben, kommen auf ihre Kosten.
Die Kommunikation mit der Vermieterin war sehr angenehm.

Très agréable maison dans une magnifique région

Nous avons séjourné deux semaines dans cette maison, avec notre bébé de 6 mois. La maison a beaucoup de charme; elle est calme, agréable, propre, très fonctionnelle et bien équipée. Le jardin est grand et bien entretenu, la vue est réellement superbe. La piscine est un vrai plus. La région est très jolie et nous nous sommes beaucoup promenés.
La propriétaire a été très disponible pour répondre à nos questions et très arrangeante pour l'organisation de nos vacances.
Nous recommandons cette location à tous les amateurs de calme et de verdure.
En résumé, de très belles vacances, merci beaucoup!

Wonderful vacation spot in Burgundy

This is the most beautiful vacation home I have every seen. Spectacular views of grass and cows on every side (noble Charollais cattle). Wonderful walking paths for miles with nothing ugly to see anywhere. Within a short radius of one hundred Romanesque churches and an hour from Cluny. Not good for folks who love to swim, however. The house is well appointed, comfortable, and clean.

Two hundred year old farmhouse on the outskirts of the picturesque village Orval consisting of six old farmhouses, a few kilometres away from Oyé, between the towns La Clayette, Charolles and the very beautiful Marcigny in the far south of Burgundy. Also not very far is Semur-en-Brionnais, which is considered as one of the most beautiful villages in the region. All around the house everything is green with beautiful meadows and views over the gently rolling hills, perfect for walking, hiking, mountain biking or doing nothing. The whole area is amazingly intact, you go walking, cycling or driving several kilometres seeing nothing other than nature, old stone houses, beautiful Romanesque churches and romantic castles. The nearest TGV railway stations are Macon and Le Creussot, 50 or 60 minutes away by car.
