The approximately 600 residents, place Schielo is somewhat isolated in the eastern Harz Mountains, about six kilometers southeast of Harzgerode. The settlement at the headwaters of A is about four kilometers away from the source of the resin flow. Schielo is integrated through the leading of Harzgerode to Molmerswende country road in the transport infrastructure of the Harz region. Good walking to the ruins of Anhalt (the 800th anniversary), Selke and Einetal.
The first written mention of the village dates back in August of 1430. In the eventful history of Schielo long time dominated the basket-making trade as the main source of income of residents.
