Finca Sambal exists of a detached Manor House in a colonial style, called SAFRAN, and an additional house containing the duplex halves MANGO and PAPAYA.

SAFRAN with its 160 sqm living space is a dream out of 1001 Nights. Enter the house through a corridor in a rainbow of colours from all shades of blue to red. There is a green bedroom and an orange one, not only painted but glazed by the land lady in week long efforts.

The bathroom is a dream in natural stone with a marble shower and an extra whirl tub. Take a look at the photographs - the whole description would fill pages.

Directions: From the airport follow the signage to LOS LLANOS, the street (LP 1) leads you upwards through a tunnel to the other side of the mountains. From there the street leads you to EL PASO (beware of a speed camera at the 'Centro de Visitantes'). In El Paso turn right a the first traffic light until appr. 100 meter to the next traffic light, where you turn right again into the one way street 'Calle Manuel Tano'. Follow this street upwards and straight until a narrow crossing of the street 'Calle San Antonio', turn here right again and immediately left into the street 'Calle Acerjo'. The second house on the right hand side is the Finca Sambal (blue and purple), after 5 meters a path is sloping down to the parking lot.

Finca Sambal is centrally located on the sunny western side of the Island with spectacular views of the mountains of the Cumbre (the ridge, that divides La Palma into the eastern and western sides) and across the Valley of Aridane. The centre of El Paso is in walking distance (10 minutes), the Finca lies on the outskirts in a calm side street.

This small holiday resort exists of two houses, the old colonial style manor house and the rather newly built duplex house with the two units Mango and Papaya, surrounded by a sub-tropical garden.

The terraces and winter garden of all three units open to the secluded western side with panoramic views over the Valley of Aridane and El Paso to the ocean, also the pool area with the large sun terrace and the partly covered barbecue area. The swimming pool is roofed and therefore swimming is possible all year round. There is great walking or biking from the doorstep, passing well-tended canarian houses and garden, or meadows with horses and goats, surrounded by the woody slopes of the Cumbre.

This is a rural and original part of La Palma, far from any hectic and a little bit like from another time ...

El Paso is a village where traditions are still important, the original 'Fiestas' are still celebrated and the old men are sitting outside the bars, sipping their coffee and smoking their cigars.

But there are also plenty of shopping facilities: super markets, bakeries, health stores, souvenir shop and some fine restaurants.

The capital Santa Cruz and the airport are only 30 min by car, Los Llanos, the 'secret capital' is only 10 minutes and the beaches of Tazacorte, Puerto Naos, Charco Verde and Los Cancajos are only 15 - 20 minutes by car.

El Paso is a great starting point for exploring the island in every direction.
