Finca Sambal exists of a detached Manor House in a colonial style, called SAFRAN, and an additional house containing the duplex halves MANGO and PAPAYA.

SAFRAN with its 160 sqm living space is a dream out of 1001 Nights. Enter the house through a corridor in a rainbow of colours from all shades of blue to red. There is a green bedroom and an orange one, not only painted but glazed by the land lady in week long efforts.

Directions: From the airport follow the signage to LOS LLANOS, the street (LP 1) leads you upwards through a tunnel to the other side of the mountains. From there the street leads you to EL PASO (beware of a speed camera at the 'Centro de Visitantes'). In El Paso turn right a the first traffic light until appr. 100 meter to the next traffic light, where you turn right again into the one way street 'Calle Manuel Tano'. Follow this street upwards and straight until a narrow crossing of the street 'Calle San Antonio', turn here right again and immediately left into the street 'Calle Acerjo'. The second house on the right hand side is the Finca Sambal (blue and purple), after 5 meters a path is sloping down to the parking lot.

Finca Sambal is centrally located on the sunny western side of the Island with spectacular views of the mountains of the Cumbre (the ridge, that divides La Palma into the eastern and western sides) and across the Valley of Aridane. The centre of El Paso is in walking distance (10 minutes), the Finca lies on the outskirts in a calm side street.

This small holiday resort exists of two houses, the old colonial style manor house and the rather newly built duplex house with the two units Mango and Papaya, surrounded by a sub-tropical garden.

The terraces and winter garden of all three units open to the secluded western side with panoramic views over the Valley of Aridane and El Paso to the ocean, also the pool area with the large sun terrace and the partly covered barbecue area. The swimming pool is roofed and therefore swimming is possible all year round. There is great walking or biking from the doorstep, passing well-tended canarian houses and garden, or meadows with horses and goats, surrounded by the woody slopes of the Cumbre.

This is a rural and original part of La Palma, far from any hectic and a little bit like from another time ...

El Paso is a village where traditions are still important, the original 'Fiestas' are still celebrated and the old men are sitting outside the bars, sipping their coffee and smoking their cigars.

But there are also plenty of shopping facilities: super markets, bakeries, health stores, souvenir shop and some fine restaurants.

The capital Santa Cruz and the airport are only 30 min by car, Los Llanos, the 'secret capital' is only 10 minutes and the beaches of Tazacorte, Puerto Naos, Charco Verde and Los Cancajos are only 15 - 20 minutes by car.

El Paso is a great starting point for exploring the island in every direction.

Subliminal! Wonderful, relaxing and aesthetic!

Really don't want to write a review here because I want to keep this piece of paradise to myself!

The property is beautifully furnished - the photos really don't capture this at all. From soft swaying curtains that provide a semi-division of the main room and on the four poster bed, to the toy paint that Klaus used on the walls.

Lots to do, although a car is essential if you want to travel further a field. Nice people all round with a great local supermarket and plenty of smaller shops to peruse.

Claudia and Klaus were the perfect hosts. They left us to it but were always on hand for any information or help with anything. I am definitely going back but hopefully this time with my friend from Iceland!

Märchenhafte Unterkunft

Diese Unterkunft lässt keine Wünsche offen. Sie ist wirklich märchenhaft schön eingerichtet. Zu dem mit 175 qm auch atemberaubend groß. Dazu ein solarbeheizter und überdachter Pool und ein fantastischer Ausblick in das Aridanetal und auf den Atlantik. Der kleine, bezaubernde Ort El Paso, hat ein paar gute gastronomische Restaurants zu bieten. Aber auch in der nahen Umgebung, sprich 10 bis 20 Autominuten entfernt, finden sich ebenfalls einige sehr gute Restaurants. Insgesamt liegt diese Unterkunft sehr zentral um die Westküste kennenzulernen. Gerne wieder. 100 Prozent weiter zu empfehlen.

Großartig

Wir haben im Juli/August 2012 drei wunderbare Urlaubswochen im Haus Safran verbracht, in dem alles stimmt. Das hervorragend renovierte alte, kanarische Haus, die exquisite, individuelle, hochwertige Einrichtung, die Farben, die Dachterrasse, die Sitzplätze außen, die Aussicht, das große Schwimmbad haben uns begeistert. Die Beschreibung im Internet entspricht den tatsächlichen Gegebenheiten. Der Pflegezustand ist ausgezeichnet. Die Vermieter sind sehr freundlich, aufgeschlossen und hilfsbereit.
Von allen Ferienhäusern, die wir bisher gemietet haben, ist es das Schönste. Es hat uns nachhaltig beeindruckt und wir haben es für unseren Urlaub 2013 wieder gebucht, weil wir mehr davon wollen.
Wir haben uns sehr schwer damit getan, unsere positive Meinung zu diesem Geheimtipp zu veröffentlichen, denn nun ist es ja kein Geheimtipp mehr.

der Geheimtip für die maximale Erholung

Wir waren schon in verschiedenen Ländern und Hotels, aber auf La Palma war die Woche viel zu kurz!
Das Zusammenspiel aus schöner Einrichtung, super Lage und dem Meer waren für uns die Gründe weswegen wir wieder hinfahren!

Oase der Ruhe und Beschaulichkeit

Wir haben wiederholt unseren Urlaub in der Anlage - dem Papaya - verbracht. Das Ferienhaus ist liebevoll und sehr gemütlich ausgestattet. Schon beim Betreten wird man von frischen Blumen, frischem Obst und einer Flasche Wein "begrüßt". Man fühlt sich gleich sehr wohl.
Die gesamte Anlage ist eine Oase der Ruhe und Beschaulichkeit. Der Poolbereich mit seiner schönen Bepflanzung, der Blick auf das Meer oder in die Berge, die Sonnenuntergänge - all das bietet einen unvergesslichen Urlaub.
Und dann die hilfsbereiten und freundlichen Gastgeber Claudia und Klaus. Eine solche Gastfreundschaft erleben wir selten.

  • There is also a small collection of CD’s, as well as books and of course telephone and internet (W-Lan). The living room has an open fire and there is central heating throughout the whole house. The paintings on the wall are all originals by the land lady. The is a terrace facing west with views across El Paso and the Valley of Aridane to the ocean. The manor is a comfortable place to relax and enjoy.

  • There is a large en-suite bathroom from the master bedroom. The bathroom is equipped with a whirl tub, a separate marble shower, two sinks, a bidet and a toilet. The tiles are natural stone. From the fully equipped kitchen lead some stairs into the secluded patio, furnished with table and chairs, sun loungers and sun shades, and a barbecue, surrounded by a small subtropical garden. From the winter garden leads a staircase to the large roof terrace with a Balinese tee temple, where you can enjoy the sun set with a good bottle of wine. Outside the winter garden is the infra red sauna. Through a gate you enter the shared pool area, where swimming is possible all year long due to the covered pool (5 x 10 metres). The living room (70 sqm) is divided into an area with a Churchill three piece suite, where also the large flat screen TV with the Hifi Cinema system is, and the area with a dinner table with chairs and other seating for relaxing.
