BEAUTIFUL, SPACIOUS BEACH HOME, YOU WILL LOVE THE VIEW!!!!

My wife and I rented this home the day after the unhappy people on the 16th of March, this was our 5th time renting this home, and once again we had an amazing time. When they called to say the people that had checked in were unhappy, and if we wanted it, she could refund their money, we couldn't have been more excited. We had just found out our daughter was getting married and rented it for a get together of the two families. The home was very clean, as it always is, although we did see the cushions that the other family referred to, and they were in bad shape, they were in the trash. We also found a couple of other items that needed replaced and they took care of it during our stay. We have never had our wished not taken care of while staying in this home, and have found the team at Beachside Realty to be very responsive. Our family surfed, boogey boarded, played pool, cooked together and rode bikes all over Oceanside. The surf break in front of this home can be one of the best on the coast, and this visit was no different. The parking lot has never been a big deal, we would have loved to see a car show and always find the people watching from the oceanfront patio to be one of the benefits for our family. The vacant lot to the north, means we can turn up our music while on the patio without disturbing our neighbors. Oceanside is a classic beach community with its share of interesting characters, its not homogenized like newport beach or la jolla. It is obviously not for everyone, but if you are looking to get your family to a spacious beach home with an amazing view, a wonderful kitchen to cook in, bikes to ride, comfortable beds, great surf break.....this is it! Thanks again for a wonderful and memorable family vacation, we will be back in the fall.

I would like to first start positive as so much negative occurred that it will be the majority of this review. 1st the view straight off the deck was wonderful. The bikes were nice to have also. The day we arrived there was no toilet paper, Kleenex, bath soap, dishwasher soap and no phone service in the house (even though there were numerous phones). You have to text the mgr.. The ceiling fan in master bedroom didn't work, the towels from the previous renter were still in the washing machine (sour by this time), also towels still in dryer and dishes from previous renter still in dishwasher. The floors in the kitchen were dirty and sticky. Pile of dirt on the floor in the laundry room. No propane for the gas grill. Then the refrigerator starts leaking.... The list goes on and on. The cushions on the deck furniture had NOT been replaced when we were there. They were stained and dirty and I had to wash the previous renters sour towels to be able to cover them. One of the supports on the lounger broke when my husband was sitting in it. Rusted completely out. All of this said, I think the most frustrating thing was the manager promising things that she didn't follow through with. It would have been nice to have had at least a phone book in the home to see what restaurants, etc. were available in Oceanside. Because of the problems we had, the mgr. asked the owner to compensate us. They said they would comp us one night's charge. I was also told I would receive a receipt from the cleaning and anything left over would be sent back to me. Never got it, and paid the whole cleaning fee even though I did the previous renters laundry, cleaned the floors, etc. The check I got back did not amount to a night's charge either (in fact it was 1/3 less than what 1 night's rent would have been) so that was another disappointment. I wrote the owner a letter, but had to send it through the manager so I have my doubts the owner will get the letter. This was a splurge for my husband and I and for the price we paid things should have been taken care of MUCH better than they were. I would definitely go back to Oceanside, but not to this home.

After reviewing the Tips and Guidelines for reviewing this property, I have considered all of the questions asked and my answer was the same to each one: NO.

The listing description was not accurate regarding the location. This property is located between a trashy, torn down lot and a parking lot (filled at the time we arrived with low riders having a contest). So, no we did not like the views...

The photos did not accurately reflect the rental's appearance. The photos do not show you the outside decks. The furniture was rusted and falling apart (actually had parts on the ground beneath it). The umbrella was nasty and tied up with a trash bag. The stuffing was actually coming out of the pillows about 6 inches and they were very stained. The second deck is filled with trashed furniture that is literally "molting". The furniture in the living room looks 100% better in the pictures than in person. The couches are worn out and smelled.

Was the property clean and well maintained? No, although it appears that the master bedroom and kitchen have been redone but it was not enough to keep us there. The carpets were filthy and the bedding was dirty on the guest beds.

The owner was surprised that we did not want to stay and offered our money back. I did, however, have to contact her later because the refund did not show up on my credit card. She didn't have any paperwork on me and did not see where a charge had been made so she had to issue me a check and mail my refund a few weeks later.

I would not recommend this property to a friend. I would recommend looking at other properties that accurately depict what you are really getting. This place may sleep a huge family and be just what some want, but if you are going for a beautiful home where you can enjoy the view and the outdoor space, look elsewhere.
