This stunning home was featured in Home and Garden Magazine.

The home was also used in the filming of Spin, a film by Jamie Redford, Robert's son.

It was also showcased in the Sundance Catalog.

Long before the 1853 Gadsden Purchase placed southern Arizona under U.S. jurisdiction, the city of Tucson was a Spanish colonial outpost. When Mexico achieved independence in 1821, Tucson became part of the new country.

Those transnational links survive in downtown's Barrio Historico, whose 150

adobe row houses make up our country's largest collection of traditional Sonoran architecture.

The 20-block neighborhood is entered on the national Historic Register.

This Amazing Historic home is a rare Spanish Colonial home built in 1880 and thoughtfully restored less than 5 years ago.

The adobe walls of the massive structure are over 2 feet thick and almost 20 feet high. The ceilings are covered with Saguaro ribs and topped with over 2 feet of concrete which replaced the dirt.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We loved, loved, loved ths place! Perfect getaway for rest and relaxation. The backyard was great as well. We pluggued in the iPod every monring and left t on until dark. We loved the spacious house and the little luxuries which were all throughout the home. The location was great. Close to everything. Our dogs really enjoyed it, too. We will definitly go back.

Charming

  • 5 of 5

The Convent House is fabulous, just as fabulous as the listing and all of the earlier reviews. Craig is even better. He was responsive, thoughtful, and superbly gracious. He is, without doubt, one of the nicest hosts in the many vacation rentals in which we've stayed over the last ten years. The Convent House is nothing short of amazing; it resembles a sort of living museum, furnished with a remarkable collection of antique religious and other artifacts. Convent House is functional as well -- the kitchen has commercial-sized appliances and is fully stocked with cooking and eating utensils. The furniture and beds are comfortable. There are lots of private spaces. The master bathroom is beautiful with a large "rain shower" head. Perhaps most beautiful is the patio/pool area. Coffee with the birds in the morning was full of delight, and we used the spa every cool March night. The location is quiet, day and night, and within walking distance of wonderful downtown restaurants. The convenient tram took us to the Fourth Avenue shops and to the University. We truly enjoyed our stay, and we would return with enthusiasm.

Amazing place, amazing host! Don't miss this!

  • 5 of 5

I cannot say enough about this wonderful place. Craig was a gracious, responsive host and made sure that we had everything we needed. The house itself is stunning and the outdoor space with seating, pool and hot tub gave our party of 9 a beautiful place to have drinks in the evening and play in the afternoon.

After staying in the Convent house, my husband and I want to get a fountain in our bedroom too! Yes, there is a fountain in the master bedroom. The bathrooms were gorgeous. The icing on the cake was the kitchen and especially the amazing appliances. Usually I wouldn't really bother about this in a rental, but the gas range and the fridge and even the dishwasher were incredible! So this is a great house for cooks too.

Finally, the location was perfect for us.

We could walk to many things in downtown Tucson (which is becoming something of a hipster paradise--many cool bars and restaurants), including a number of museums, shopping at Old Town Artisans Plaza, the new streetcar line, etc.

We can't wait to go back to the Convent House. A perfect spot for a getaway with family or friends.

Thank you for everything Craig!

We Return As Much As Possible

  • 5 of 5

We are repeat customers who try to come back to Convent House as often as possible. The house is comfortable, friendly, great for entertaining, and conveniently located. Craig is always responsive and efficient. Convent House is even better now due to its proximity to the new train system. No need to drive anywhere! Highly recommend Anita Street Market, which we discovered on our last trip. Best tortillas, hot sauce, and homemade chorizo in Tucson. And don't forget the Hub for ice cream.

JUST GO FOR IT - you will not be disappointed.

  • 5 of 5

Craig has done a great job to make you feel special in a special place. We were a large group with differing demands and no one was disappointed. The house is a cross between a church and a Game of Thrones set and it is AWESOME. Our group consisted of a regular churchgoer (she went to mass around the corner) and teenagers (who did not rise before noon) and there was room for all to sleep, eat and have fun. The kitchen is well equipped and the neighborhood quiet. Craig has done all the important things right - comfy beds, nice linen, quality appliances. If I had to find something to improve, I would say "needs more dust control and a bigger TV would be nice during the NBA playoffs". But, who worries about that when the birds in the trees above sing to you each morning? The house is central to everything and the location took away the worry about kids driving after being out. Take a chance - stay some place where you will never forget your surroundings-its that different.

Very Relaxing Vacation

  • 5 of 5

The property was lovely, particularly the patio & pool. We certainly enjoyed sitting around the patio/pool area in early morning, coffee in hand, watching the birds & soaking up the lovely sunshine. In hot afternoons, frequent swims were taken. The kitchen contains high quality equipment and the MBR walk-in shower with rain-type shower head was lovely. The property is only a 10-15 minute drive to/from the airport. Craig was very friendly and we enjoyed meeting him.

Historic Home in Convenient Location

  • 4 of 5

Craig was great. He made himself available to answer all questions and provide restaurant recommendations in the local area. The convenient location is walking distance from the convention center and other downtown attractions. It was safe, quiet and comfortable. The best feature is the shower in the back of the house. Definitely AWESOME! We will definitely consider the Convent House for our next stay in Tucson.
