At the end of the 30 km long valley Nikolai, at the Italian border of western Swiss Canton of Valais, lies Zermatt, the village at the foot of Matterhorn, the most photographed mountain in the world. For our guests from other countries Zermatt represents Switzerland: high alpine, lofty and original. Almost one third of all 4000s of Alps are clustered around the village, which is visited by mountaineers from all over the world since the first ascent of Matterhorn in 1865. Climate is of excellent quality: with 300 sunny days in a year there is so less rainfall here than elsewhere in Switzerland.
