'LA MAISON DE NONNA'

This beautiful and luxury 17th Century apartment is in a 16th CENTURY LANDMARK BUILDING in Aix-en-Provence. The building's very recent restoration has received a 5-star rating from the city's architecture commission as it has been lovingly and faithfully restored to retain its origins. 'La Maison de Nonna' is in the perfect neighborhood to experience 'la vie Provencale' - right in the heart of the old HISTORICAL town and Centre Ville, a few steps from the painter Cezanne's house, centrally located and within a 2 minutes walk from the famous flower and food markets, antique stores, only 3 minutes walk to the famous Cours Mirabeau.

The 1000 square feet apartment was completely gutted and renovated in 2008 and is situated on the second floor. The entrance is Louis XIV period (17TH century) with a large 17th century Iron staircase going up the the apt.

There are two bedrooms, an 18th c French/Chinese room with two twin beds (which may be joined upon request) and a French ART DECO style room with a queen size bed. Near the bedrooms at end of a corridor you will find a large bathroom with separate commode and a large walk-in shower, dressing area and full amenities including heated towel bar.

The kitchen is Completely equipped with washer and dryer, gas stove, microwave and eating area for six people.

The apartment was decorated by a French antique dealer/Interior Designer. Sunny and bright with lots of windows and the desired southern exposure, the living room is furnished with French Antiques in a Provencal 18th century style and includes a formal eating area as well as daybed, comfortable lounge chairs and a secretaire for writing post cards or keeping your journal. There is a flat screen TV with cable and international channels to add a modern touch in front of 17th century fireplace.

A Boulangerie and a French bookstore are on the ground floor and restaurants and cafés are literally just a block away..

Aix-en-Provence has preserved a wonderful heritage which itself deserve a few days stay and vivre a la provencale!! But it is also an ideal base for exploring the surrounding areas of provence which, in a radius of just a few kilometers, offers the loveliest lansdcapes like the calanques of cassis, the camargue, the luberon wine country and the french Riviera. We also have PRIVATE PARKING two blocks away from the apt(check with owners for fee) you will be able to come and get out of garage as many times as you want without paying expensive fees. You will be able to get out of the city very easily and access to freeways or explore the beautiful quiet roads of provence with an unforgettable scenery of the provencal country side.

My girls and I spent a week in Aix and stayed at LaMaisonNonna
After travelling for so many hours, then renting a car at the TGV station, we were having a hard time finding the apartment, feeling exhausted and a little nervous about driving in a foreign country, we called Kristine and she actually came and found us, and showed us the way. It was like seeing a friend that we've known, after months of correspendence. From that point our stay was amazing. We loved the location of the apartment, with easy parking, and everything in Aix is within walking distance. The apartment was lovely and perfect for the four of us. We loved the beautiful spiral stairs leading up to the apartment and big shutters that you could open in the morning and watch the town come to life. The boulangerie downstairs was wonderful. and everyone was so friendly and helpful. We felt so safe and comfortable there. Kristine was such a gracious and accomodating host. When we arrived, the apartment was filled with the scent of lavender and a tray of fruit, Calissons and a bottle of wine awaited us. Kristine helped us understand the layout of Aix for driving and afterward, we had no trouble at all driving around Provence. We loved the beaches and Calanques of Cassis, and the perched villages in the Luberon the best and discovering little towns and places to eat, (all incredible) was too much fun. Every day was such a great adventure from riding horses in the Camargue to wine tasting at Chateauneuf de Pape and yet there is still so much so see. We spent a fabulous week in Paris afterward but we all agree that we will miss Provence the most and can't wait to come back and we will surely stay at LaMaisonNonna

From the moment we walked in we fell in love with this lovely apt. Kristine, you really have thought of every detail to make us feel at home.

We enjoyed walking the streets of aix en provence and shopping at the farmers market everyday..we also cooked delicious meals in your kitchen and enjoyed them at candle light in your pristine living room....We also ventured far and wide to Arles, st Remy the beautiful villages of the luberon valley and finally Moustiers ste marie...Just amazing!!.thank you for all your great suggestions.
This was the perfect place to stay for our first time in Provence..it certainly won't be the last...a week is not enough to see it all, so we will be back for sure..thank you for making this apt so wonderful and a home to every visitor!!!

The owners were exceptionally helpful in making us comfortable and recommending places to eat, places to visit and things to do, and advice on transport etc. Highly recommended, and will stay there again when we return.

Our family's stay in the beautiful provençal town if Aix this summer was highlighted by La Maison de Nonna. La Maison is an extension of the beauty, refinement, and elegance of Aix. It's owners, Kristine and Thierry are very gracious, tentative and extremely efficient. For example, during our stay the AC for some reason did not work to its maximum capacity, we immediately notified Thierry and he rectified the problem that same day. Kristine's refined taste does not limit to La Maison de Nonna's impeccable décor, but it also extends to all her suggestions of sights, restaurants, excursions for us to do. We trusted Kristine with everyone of her suggestions and were never disappointed. We can honestly say that when in Aix and if La Maison de Nona is available you will not be disappointed with your stay here. Stepping into La Maison de Nonna is like stepping into a world of "luxe, calme et volupté." Bon voyage!!
