Itri is in the green hills above the Gulf of Gaeta, just a few minutes drive from the sea and the beautiful beaches of Gaeta and Sperlonga. The town is surrounded by olive groves and the Aurunci mountains, which rise up to an altitude of 1500 m. The climate is mild and Mediterranean all year round. The village is of medieval origin, well worth a medieval fortress castle - Castle of Itri (opening times from Tuesday to Sunday, 10-13 and 17-20 clock, with evening events to 24 Clock), the medieval church and the sanctuary of Madonna della Civita, which is on the way to Campodimele is. Capodimele, a characteristic small, medieval village in the mountains is definitely worth a visit. The place is famous because its residents are disproportionately old. In the Castle of Itri normally take place in the summer many cultural events. Famous are the olives with the name Itrana, which are mostly grown in Itri and in the south of Latium. Out of them is extra-virgin olive oil produced. Hourly train connections to bring in the eternal city of Rome and Naples. The mild, Mediterranean climate, the Gulf of Gaeta is protected by the Aurunci mountains from cold winds, and a pleasant stay out of season makes (average temperature of 14.6 degrees in the winter months).
