The thatched old captain's house was built in 1743. In the eventful history of the house also Hay Volkert, who was for many years on whaling at sea and brought it to some fame lived. Years later it was bought by Jacob Jacobsen, which it moved back to his home island of Foehr after successful gold mining in Australia. The house was renovated in 2006 from scratch and thereby restore the original layout with Dörnsk and pesel. During the restoration, much attention has been paid to historical materials. From the 1000 year old oak, which originated in the St. John's Church and in the house as a building material was used, a remnant has been preserved in the new bathroom. For this purpose, it is in the picturesque village Nieblum overlooking the church. Curious?
