We enjoyed a wonderful stay right at the Gas Lamp District! My husband and I enjoyed long walks around town. We also tried several different Restaurants. The Loft was comfortable and it had everything we needed. It was nicely decorated and very creative use of space. If you're adventurous and open to a little different at a great location - this is the place for you. Ira was prompt and had great information for us to enjoy our stay.
I've used this unit twice when traveling to S.D. for Conventions. It is walking distance to the Convention Center and all Gas Lamp dining and nightlife activities. If your goal is to be close to the energy of the Gas Lamp without the hassle of hotels and parking, this is perfect. Ownership is very cooperative and responsive to your needs.
A girlfriend and I spent a long weekend at this loft in mid-September and have nothing but wonderful things to say about the entire experience. From my initial inquiry about the place until we were looking for a taxi to the airport at the end of our trip the owner, Ira, was amazingly helpful. He was extremely responsive to my emails, texts and calls and always had quick and insightful advice and answers to all my questions and concerns. And the place was so lovely. Very conveniently located in the Gaslamp District, we could easily get to everything we wanted to see and do. We felt very safe and comfortable in the neighborhood where the loft was located and there was a lovely cafe right across the street (Cafe 222) where we enjoyed a yummy breakfast every morning before setting off on our day's adventure. The unit itself was very clean and spacious and had everything we needed for a very enjoyable stay. One thing to note: as is clearly stated in the ad, this is an open space loft and, while there are curtains between the two sleeping areas and the bathroom, it does require a little maneuvering if you are trying to keep things completely private. Definitely not a big problem - just something to keep in mind. All in all a wonderful place - I would definitely rent this lovely apartment again if I am ever lucky enough to visit San Diego in the future.
I got this loft for the Bride and Bridesmaids for my daughter's wedding. It was the perfect space for what we needed. There is not a lot of privacy, but for the 6 girls it was just like a slumber party. The location couldn't be better. The girls were able to catch the trolley easily and it was only a quick walk to all the Gaslamp restaurants and bars. We loved the fact there was enough room for all the girls to get dressed and do make up for the wedding with the addition of hairdressers, makeup ladies and photographers. Despite the unusual facade, I never felt it was an unsafe area for the girls. Ira was wonderful to deal with, he was very accommodating and understanding of our situation. The space is a bit funky and may not be to everyone's taste, but we loved and couldn't have been happier. Would definitely recommend this great place as a fantastic vacation rental.
It's exactly as described and perfect for my family of young adults! Walking distance to everything, comfy place to relax during the down time. This turned out to be the hub for the cousins to hang out and get to know each other (all in town celebrating Grandma's 80th Birthday). The kitchen was sufficiently equipped to make simple meals and
had lots of plates, cups, and glasses.
Plans are already in the works for next year! Ira is a wonderful host - thank you for the ease and simplicity of securing the Loft for our family get away!
For some this might be okay; it's on the cheaper side, it looks just like the pics. posted, roomy, it's close to the convention center and the Gaslamp District. It's what you can't see that's the problem. :( This place is unmarked. It doesn't say "Dynasty Lofts" like your contract. It's actually located behind a chain link fence that's masked with black netting housing green bikes. Upon our arrival the AC was not working (80 degrees inside), the water line was not hooked up to fridge, so no ice and no ice cube trays. No kitchen towels. Poor supply of bath towels, not even enough for us 5. Lots of cooking utensils but next to nothing in cookware. Dirty dishes. On our third night there, I pulled a previous guests underwear out of the disposal! I contacted Ira the day we arrived with frustration and when he came over he was just as nice as previous reviews mention and totally in damage control mode. He tried to fix the AC and when he couldn't he called a company to and the AC was fixed by the next day. He did bring more bath towels but thats all you get for 6 nights so you reuse the same towel and wash cloth or find a laundry mat. He told me to buy whatever I needed for pots and pans and he would reimburse me and he did. But seriously, who wants to deal with that? If I had known then what I know now I would have stayed elsewhere. I'm an easy going mom. I was traveling with 4 teenagers to dance nationals. Super excited. We had no choice but to tough it out. I have to say this was by far the worst VRBO I have ever stayed at. I actually called around to try and find another place to stay but everything was booked. (4th of July weekend) I had a pit in my stomach the whole week I was there. I would never stay in this place again or recommend this place to anyone unless you don't mind that type of unorganization, chanting rabbi's into the wee hours of the night outside your door and city folk peeing outside the gate.
We provide bikes for your use around the area. Go Green! Take a short bike ride to the water taxi behind the convention center or ride to pier and take the ferry to Coronado to enjoy the best beaches, most picturesque restaurants, and upscale living in SD.
