Hale Moana is a Non-Smoking studio nestled beneath two lovely shade trees with a 'treehouse' view. Our studio is cooled by refreshing island tradewinds and by the shade from our Monkeypod and Tamarind Trees. Hale Moana has interior teak and bamboo furnishings which rest on a cool, quartzite slate tile floor. You will have private parking & entry to a 750+ square foot studio and deck. The interior also has a vaulted ceiling with skylights and plenty of light throughout. Gas two-burner cooking inside and a gas BBQ grill outside. Once settled in at Hale Moana, you will be a few delightfully sandy paces to beautiful Kailua Bay and Kalama Beach with views of Flat island, the Mokulua islands (Moku Nui and Moku Iki), outer islands (sometimes Molokai and Maui are visible in the distance) and wonderful sunrises too on our East facing, windward side of the island. This rental was really well situated, which made it easy to get around the island for touring. Kailua has a great town center with good restaurants and shops; Lucy's Grill was fun and the smoothies at Lanikai Juice were delicious. Our rental was really close to the water and Kailua Bay is beautiful and had good swimming, boogie boarding and body surfing. Our host was great and had the studio outfitted with everything we needed for a comfortable stay - not to mention very clean and beautifully decorated. Jennifer was available when we needed her for questions and we also felt like we had tons of privacy from the main house. The 'welcome book' in particular was very helpful and detailed. Being in a neighborhood was more relaxing for us than staying in Waikiki (which we've done on previous visits) and Kailua really had everything we wanted. We'd like to come back to Hale Moana and Kailua again and will recommend this rental to friends. Oh, and shave ice with a scoop of ice cream in the bottom is the best! John + Katie, San Francisco, CA
Owner's Response: We are always glad to hear responses from our guests and to know that they had a good stay with us; 99% of the time this is the case! We include a comment sheet with our welcome paperwork which has been instrumental in helping us dial our studio in so that it really is a home away from home for our guests. Visitors have had a really positive response to our information binder of local restaurants, shopping, and activities. Kailua town is growing and changing and has more to offer than in years past ( if you really want more than a great location, beach and swimming ! ) so even going into Waikiki or Honolulu seems like too long of a drive; pretty much all the conveniences are right in Kailua. Our stay at Hale Moana was absolutely wonderful. The studio is beautifully decorated and maintained. There was so many nice touches and provisions that made our beach vacation 9 of the best days we can remember. The proximity to beautiful Kailua Beach was perfect. We looked forward to our short walk to the beach and evening swim every day. Our hosts provided the perfect balance of availibility and privacy. We highly reccomend this lovely spot.
