Modern Architect, Joseph Wasserman's house (4500sq ft.) with views out over 100 acres of farmland and hills beyond offer a peaceful, private retreat with screened porches and gas grill. This early 70's house was featured in House Beautiful 1974, has a fine sounding grand Steinway piano, a sociable kitchen and large dining room. The house sleeps 8-10 people with 4 bedrooms ( 3 queens, 2 twins, 1 bunk and 1 queen sized loft).
The pond is a favorite with a wood fired sauna. This porous house filled with windows resides in great privacy at the top of a hill. Just 20 minutes to Great Barrington enjoy the Berkshires at its best. In the fall come for spectacular foliage viewing, in the winter cross country ski out the door, in the spring hike the local water falls and in the summer grill on the spacious screened patio . All year round enjoy a magnificent view of the stars uninterrupted by city lights.

"We had a perfect wish fulfillment weekend. Everything was amazing! Our kids all got along, we had one warm sunny day and one gorgeous snowy day. Best of all, we all just loved the house, grounds, style, and sense of loved home"
I came to this house for three nights with my extended family and already look forward to returning. While we took a few excursions -- downhill skiing and to a local restaurant -- I would have been perfectly content to stay in this house and among its 200+ acres of land the whole time. Everything in the house is set up for maximal pleasure -- all the rooms are generous and have lovely views; the common areas are open and light; the kitchen allows for multiple cooks and loungers. We enjoyed Christmas morning in the living room beside a fire and the 12’ tree I was able to cut down right outside (with owners’ permission, of course). Outside, there was sledding, cross country skiing, ice skating (if so desired, on the small pond beside the wood-fired sauna building), and long walks among the rolling and open lands of the family compound. Even into the third day of the stay, I was still discovering things -- a tennis court in the woods above the house, a third floor study with a lofted bed, an excellent collection of cook books. Like this, the space made it easy for our family to share and retreat. It's hard to imagine a VRBO listing offering more.
